“Very nice hotel, great value”
Reviewed 9 February 2011

An old granary turned into a hotel. The hotel is situated 10 minutes walk from the old town in Gdansk. Very clean and fresh. Fairly large rooms with fridge and free safety box. Beds were ok but the pillows a bit hard (no alternatives available). Free WiFi is available but was a bit slow. The staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast buffet was good. The microbrewery at the hotel brewing three kinds of beer (light, dark, and wheat) is a bonus. For the price Hotel Gdansk offers great value.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Good value at Euro 100 per night and the location is great, easy walking distance( a few minutes) to town center. Nice view from hotel. Rooms beautifully decorated, beds very comfy, good shower and water pressure, mini bar and safe in room. Add bonus of there being a Microbrewery in the Hotel - didn't know that when I booked. I ate dinner twice and was pleasantly surprised by how much I really enjoyed the food (and I'm quite picky). While they try very hard to get everything just right in the hotel there are some basics missing: Front desk staff very pleasant but have absolutely no knowledge of things happening around the area, we asked about music and they said they had no idea despite the fact that the hotel is next to the Philharmonic Building and there were literally hundreds of people passing by the hotel and obviously going to a music event. I think a Concierge would be a huge addition to this type of hotel because there is so much to see and do in Gdansk. Rooms are not very well insulated because we could hear the people upstairs walking around all the time. Towels are provided but the bare minimum. No facial tissues in the bathroom, the usual, almost sandpaper quality toilet rolls. This hotel has so much potential for excellence. Overall I was very pleased and the entire stay exceeded my expectations.

We stayed two nights in the Gdansk hotel(once an old Granary) and while it was not inexpensive we felt it represented value for money.
We had also stayed a number of other hotels while travelling in Poland where the concept of service and customer focus was largely unknown. This was definitely not the case for the Hotel Gdansk which was up to good international standards.
The staff were friendly, spoke good English & German and were always willing to assist and help.
It is located on the riverfront and within easy walking distance to the "old" town city.
We found it quiet, but our friends felt it a little noisy as they were in a room above the bar area.
The food and wine in the restaurant were excellent and the serving staff polite and friendly. While good Vodka is in abundance finding an acceptable wine list is much more of a challenge in Poland.
I left my small attache bag (containing my travel documents )on the first evening in the restaurant. It was returned by the reception staff early next morning with a smile. Needless to say I was very grateful!
We enjoyed our stay and would happily return

This Hotel is worth every penny you pay there. We were on holidays with our two little kids and felt very welcome for two days there. Booked a standard King Size and got a bigger, very nice room. Reception: very friendly, welcoming, helpfull ladies. Whatever we asked for, was delivered within a very short time. Babysittinng? No problem. Late night room service? No problem at all. Free WiFi: of course. EXCELLENT suggestions from the restaurant on the phone, EXCELLENT food and wine! Breakfast: excellent. We travel a lot worldwide with our kids and will definitely come again to this place! Just one little thing with greetings to the hotel: think about a less "aggressiv" music during breakfatst.

A lovely hotel which has been converted from an old granary. The rooms are well furnished but with only one small window and dark furniture, the rooms are dark. The restaurant and bar are very good - especially the beer. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We stayed there during a holiday and it was very busy and can be noisy if you have a room at the front above the bar - ask for a room on the 4th floor or above. We were on the 2nd floor above the restaurant and heard the staff setting up for breakfast at 6am!! Nevertheless a good hotel only a 20 minute walk from the main sightseeing area.

This is an old granary in the typical Gdanks and Hansa style in front of the old city, beautifully restored to become a luxury hotel, restaurant and biergarten. The room I stayed was lovely, wooden girder and great finishing, only a bit dark.
The staff was excellent, so the artisan beer of the brewery on ground floor. Only a walk to get to the middle-age square and all the cultural attractions of Gdansk.

Great hotel! Really nice decor: cozy and stylish. Rather spacious and spotless rooms. There is absolutely nothing negative about the place I'd like to mention. Our stay was wonderful. Brovarnia brewery is a great addition to the Gdansk Hotel experience. Really tasty beer and pretty decent menu. We have not eaten in the restaurant, but it looked rather nice as well. Location is perfect as well; lovely and short walk to the Old town. I was more than happy that we have chosen Gdansk for our weekend break.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Gdansk is the best boutique hotel in the Tricity and a true flagship hotel of Gdansk. Uniquely situated by the picturesque yacht marina, in the heart of the city, the hotel is often recognized as a special place in the city center. The hotel has two synergic components - a granary from the XVIIIth century, restored with great attention to detail, enchanting with its elegance and history, and the Yachting part, whose modern decorating themes infuse the interiors with a sea-inspired look. Thus, the fascinating history and traditions of the city of Gdansk are strongly present in the both parts of Hotel Gdansk. The Spa in Hotel Gdansk is one of the most modern and fashionable Spas at the Baltic coast, and one of the best Med Spas in Poland.Hotel Gdansk Restaurant is an unusual restaurant in a unique place. It serves exquisite dishes of Polish and Gdansk regional cuisine. The mini-brewery is a great addition to the boutique complex and a very interesing attraction for Hotel Gdansk guests, who may here try the best beer in Poland. Our Schwarzbier (dark beer) received this title during the prestigious beer contest in Zywiec 2011. There is always someting interesting happening in our brewery. At least 3 times a week you can enjoy live music. ... more   less
