I and a few friends took a weekend trip to Gdansk last December (2009). We chose Qubus based on favorable reviews and a very, very good deal on rates.

Qubus caters for business travelers and I reckon has more single rooms than most hotels. Single rooms were smallish with a desk, armchair and a narrow but comfortable bed and a good en-suite shower. Rooms were very quiet. For stays longer than a couple of nights you might consider a bit more comfy rooms. Obviously the renovated hotel had been running only a few months so everything was immaculately clean.

The hotel provides a free wireless internet but it kept dropping off at the time of our visit. Just make sure that you really are on wireless to avoid roaming charges.

Breakfast was very good with some slightly more inventive dishes like mozzarella-tomato toasts. Also, most of the fruit were fresh and not of the canned variety. Considering the room rate, I'd say the breakfast was even exemplary.

The immediate surroundings were not very nice but it's just a few minutes walk to the old town with a good selection of restaurants, bars and night clubs.

Taxi from the airport shouldn't cost you more than 60 złoty if memory serves. Probably even less as we had a bigger van for a larger group. Be aware that taxis on the airport might try and charge you quite a bit more.

The Qubus Hotel in Gdansk was an excellent hotel. Spotlessly clean, good staff, good size rooms and a fabulous breakfast. This was the second Qubus hotel we have stayed at when in Poland. The Qubus in Gdansk was an excellent business hotel with a gym which was reasonably sized with the equipment in good condition . The sauna and relaxation area were immaculately clean, but a bit small overall. We did'nt have dinner in the hotel, but the breakfast was first class and i'm sure the evening food would have been equally as good. The location was by the river and really close to the main attractions. The only fault with this hotel was the lack of a proper bar / lounge where you could sit, have a drink and watch the world go by. Minor problem that did not affect our stay. I would say it was a business hotel, but don't let that effect a leisure stay. Would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Everything was good except that they did not take the fire alarm seriously. It went off in the morning when we was asleep, and the staff ignored it. It was a scary event.

Similar to other posts - clean and modern hotel with good breakfast! Staff very friendly and helpful.
Only about 5 minutes walk over the bridge into the Old Town. Gdansk is a lovely city, snow was thick and deep, and although cold sunny and blue skies every day. Definately take a trip to Sopot. We caught the 210 local bus from the airport into the city centre (2.5 zl) about 40p and then tram 8 or 13 over bridge to the hotel door - you can't miss it!
