“Great location, great hotel”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

This hotel is situated in a prime location, right on the main street of tourist interest. It is a mere 15 minute walk from the railway station (ie where the airport bus No 210 arrives). My room was really clean and had every amenity. Staff were always pleasant and helpful. I can find no fault whatsoever. I paid everything up front before I arrived and felt that was enough. I would just warn that, on checking out, I was told I had to pay 8 zloty local tax. Not a huge amount, but make sure you have it in loose change! Would have been helpful if I had been warned.

Perfect location in the centre of the old town, and you can walk from the station (we arrived by train) in about 15 minutes. Stylish rooms, thoughtful conversion of an impressive building, and good use of space. Our bathroom had a corner bath. We were very comfortable there, a good breakfast was included, as was free wifi, and the staff were friendly and spoke good English. We had a premium room with three floor-to-ceiling windows, but even so the price was reasonable. Visit Gdansk, you will not be disappointed, and stay at the Holland House when you do. The only slight criticism was that the room was cold when we arrived - but that was rectified by the next morning.

We arrived at Holland House and were initially pleased with what we saw. However, despite its very good location, the rooms facing onto the street were unbelievedly noisy and after our first sleepless night, we asked to be transferred to a quieter room. Unfortunately this room was only marginally better as we had to put up with local winoes and drunks using the waste ground immediately below our window as a meeting/drinking place, which went on until 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning. We did speak to the management about this but nothing was done during our stay to deal with the problem. I should also mention that there is no air conditioning in the hotel and because the rooms were so stuffy and hot, we had no alternative but to open windows. The rooms and bathrooms were lovely and we have no other criticisms apart from the breakfast which was the worst we have ever experienced during our many visits to other cities in Poland. Arrive for breakfast later than 9am and you ran the risk of there being nothing left! We would not stay here again.

Room Tip: My own suggestion would be to take ear plugs.

Holland House is an excellent hotel choice as it sits right at the centre of the beautiful city of Gdansk.
I travelled there with my girlfriend, to stay for a few nights, before moving on to another city in Poland.
The location really cannot be beaten, as the hotel sits on the main (picturesque) street in Gdansk and is right next door to restaurants, shops, and some of the main tourists sites in the city.
On arrival, it is a little confusing, as the hotel sits above a bar/lounge, but it is easily accessed via stairs/lift.
The lobby is small and dark wood abounds. There is a breakfast area, in similar decor, right beside the lobby. The rest of the hotel is accessed via stairs and one lift.
The welcome from the guy at reception was warm and friendly, and he could speak excellent english, which was good news as my polish is somewhat limited!
The room we received was spacious, and had all the amenities needed - the nicest aspect was the bathroom, which was finished in what looked like brown marble, and was a fair size, bearing in mind that the hotel is so central in an old house squeezed in between other old houses built in a style reminiscent of Amsterdam (not surprising, given the name of the hotel!).
We had a view over the Dlugi Targ, which I think translates as Long Market, and if you go to view Gdansk in photos/street view, you'll see that it is a view worth having. And just to note while this would be the main street in the city, there is little noise that filters into the room (always a bonus for sleep!)
All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Gdansk, which is one of the prettiest cities I've visited. My Polish girlfriend was right!

This hotel is right on the most beautiful street of Dansk. The hotel is very nicely decorated as well as the rooms. We had two double rooms; both were beautiful, spacious and with a very big bathroom, which is difficult to find in Europe. The breakfast and service was also fine.

Room Tip: These great double rooms had windows facing the street (but we didn't get bothered by any noise...
