Description: Unusualness of this place is proven by its history, which is connected with Gdansk so much, that still on the foreign tours itinerary, there is a stop on Szeroka Street with short story about the Gdansk vodka - Goldwasser. Dutch Mennonite Ambrosius Vermoolen, after he had been given the Gdansk citizenship, in year 1598 he launched the alcohol distillery, which he named "Der Lachs" - the salmon. Since then, this fish, being the symbol of happiness and prosperity, has signed all the products of this tasting room. "Goldwasser" became the most popular product made in his small factory. The dispensing of spicy vodka with swirling little pieces of 22-carats gold, had been kept in the strictest secrecy for ages, and told from generation to generation. The liquor, as a Gdansk brand article, was served on European courts. It was one of the favorites alcohols of Tsarina Catharine II. The historical chronicles in the following ages, mention the names of further generations - successors of the secret dispensing: Bestvater, Henrichsdorf, Marwitz and Wundichow. In the present time, the successor in law, and the possessor of the original dispensing is Graf von Hardenberg, the owner of Hardenberg-Wilthen AG liqueur factory in Germany. The Gdansk tasting room and restaurant "Pod Łososiem" had been famous for ages, as the place full of extreme collection of jewels, paintings and furniture. Unfortunately, the ravages of Second World War did not omit Szeroka Street. Tenement-house was destroyed during the blitz, but the collections survived. In 1976 the "Pod Łososiem" restaurant was re-opened. It has been being managed for over a quarter of a century The Robakowski's Family, who estimate the proper value of tradition of this place.

This restaurant is just perfect, according to food, polish cousine is not the most famious in the world for their coulonary experience like French food, but this polish restaurant with their athmosfare, you feel like a king and you are taken back to the 30 is when you wisit this restaurant and service can make their food known out in the world. And for those that don't like polish Food has to see it in this perspective and just try and be open minded. I think this must be one of the best restaurant in Polen, and i assure you that there is a reason like bush senior, Thatcher and Our own King has been in this restaurant. Of cource you pay a litte bit more for the service and athmosfere, but according to Norwegian prices, this is like a dinner at a steak restaurant. All Our empoyees was very happy.

Friendly service, nice interiors in this classic restaurant. We didn't order fish. Perhaps we should have as my roast duck was very dry. Peirogi was fine though. Soup was just average.

I've been here already three times for the last couple of years - two lunches and one dinner. I enjoy Pod Lososiem every time I'm visiting Tricity (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia).

The food is very good, I suggest you to take a fish, the restaurants name speaks for itself. Each meal I had yet was very tasty. The desserts always make a pleasent finish. This is also the place to taste the Goldwasser! The service was OK, nothing special to point out, very friendly and don't put you in a rush.

The restaurant itself is fantastic, it looks very small from the outside but has enough space in the inside. The interior? - well it's what gives the restaurant a great, vintage touch.

When visiting Gdansk its a must be.

We had the pleasure of spending a night at the "Under the salmon" (Pod Lososiem) restaurant recently. We were eight in our party and we all enjoyed a delicious three course meal with nice wine. The service was excellent and the atmosphere classy, yet not too formal. We also had the pleasure of speaking of the third generation owner. Definitely a restaurant to recommend while in Gdansk.

We went to this restaurant because is the most famous in the city and it is recommended in the guides of the city. It shows proudly in the pictures at the hall that different VIP people has lunch there, but I do not think that the vegetables served to this famous people were frozen like ours. It is incredible that in a luxury restaurant like this, with a high prices in its menu, gives you frozen vegetables as side when you ask for a salmon. The rest of the plates were just normal and the portions were small. Waiters were unpleasant and snooty, they think that just working for a expensive restaurant they are superior.
