We stayed 2 nights at Dom Sonata in Gdansk from 25th till 27th August, where we could leave our car free of charge on the supervised parking. Accomodation is just comfortable and clean, as well as the bathroom. In the morning there is a rich breakfast buffet and the kind lady in charge prepares the scrambled or fried eggs completely to your personal wish in your very presence. What do you want more?
The city centre is within walking distance, about 15 minutes. Whenever we visit Gdansk we will certainly stay again at Dom Sonata.

The rooms here were large, clean and bright. The only thing is the location is a bit of a drive from the train station and a ten minute walk from the centre of the old town, which is fine if you are a couple or in a group but the area could seem a little unsafe if you are a female walking along the streets in the early evening. The staff though and the hotel are really great and I can not fault them on the hotel.

Location was a 5/10 min stroll from the main tourist area. Room was bare bones, our main complaint is our room was on the top floor, in a tower- so we had to go up extra stairs, the room only had 2 very small windows at the floor level, and 3 skylights that could be opened, it was almost unbearable with high temperatures in late July and of course the skylights needed to be closed when it rained. One of our beds had linens stained with blood(washed, but nonetheless, blood stains- gross). I imagine this is the worst room in the entire buiding. Also, we had an early wake up due to construction happening across the street- it looks like there is a way to go before the building will be finished. On the plus side- the room did have a fridge and really good wi-fi which makes this 'hotel' average.

we were living there this past week and the rooms are average,looks like pupils living quarters. nothing wrong with that,we enjoyed the closeness to the old city whitch lies only 3-5 min walk away.
What we didnt like was the language problems..there were 3 different receptionists and only one could halfway communicate in english. the other two got panic everytime i tried to talk to them,so it was hard to get information about trams,trains,city attractions etc.
Conclusion;
if you talk polish,russian or a other slavic language go for this hotel.
if you only talk english,find another..

Dom Sonata is located in the Music Academy compound in the heart of Gdansk. The rooms are spacious and clean, perfectly suited for the budget visitors. Cheap meals (breakfast and lunches) can be bought at the student cafe on ground floor, or in a posh Malinowy Ogrod restaurant in Dom Muzyka next door. The reception is open 24/7 and the stuff is very friendly and helpful. The tourist attractions are 10 minutes away by foot, and cheap public transport (trams and buses) on the doorstep.
Dom Sonata operates as hotel only in summer when the students are away.
