“perfect location for short break”
Reviewed 13 January 2012

the touristy/interesting areas of gdansk are,to my mind,in this part of town.this hotel is virtually surrounded by restaurants, pubs etc.nowhere seemed more than a few minutes walk away.the hotel itself is fine,my single room was fairly spacious and comfy.a very minor criticism is that the tv had1500 channels, including the encrypted ones, and trying to find something to watch i.e. an english language news channel, was at first an adventure then just a chore.i did not partake of the breakfast as for 35zl<£7>i knew i could get better for less in any of the nearby cafes.its layout in the hotel didnt impress and seemed minimal for the money, although it was well patronised when i went down for tea.the hotel served its purpose for me and was good value

The hotel has recently been renovated, rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. The location of this hotel can't be better, it's just about 100 meters from the center of the old town. Nice breakfast with lots of choice (including warm sausages and scrambled eggs), served in the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately it can be quite noisy, especially on a weekend night.

First, let me say the hotel has great location in Piwna street, right in the centre, but the direct neighbourhood does not feel so crowded with tourists as places only 200 meters from here. The room was very pleasant and clean, the décor really nice, even breakfast was very good and all that at a very reasonable price. Why only 3 star, then?: unfortunately service and minor but irritating inconveniences. Wi-Fi did not work in my room during the whole stay, which was very strange because the strength of the signal was more than OK. Somehow I could log in at the reception, but back in my room it just couldn’t connect to the internet. I was told that nobody else was complaining – it appears that one guest is not enough to take interest. Twice I could not get into my room because the key-card malfunctioned and once I almost got stuck in the elevator (managed to open the door manually). At breakfast, especially if you arrive early and speak Polish, you will have the pleasure of hearing the staff’s conversations, including the Polish equivalent of the f*** words quite frequently used, which does not sit well with classical music playing in the background. One more thing – the hotel restaurant serves good breakfast, but I would not recommend going there for lunch or dinner. I got reheated, partly cold food at prices which for Poland are by no means exceptionally low.

We stayed at the Hotel for 4 nights. We checked into room #410 when we arrived. It was so small you could hardly turn around in the room. After we settled in and had a shower we requested a larger room. They accomaded us with room #413. ALmost twice the size and facing the back. A lot quiter. They made the switch with no fuss. Very good breakfast included. .... Only downside is a large bus can not reach the front door and requires you to walk in.

Room Tip: Request a back room, check size of room.

Going to Gdansk for a few days with my fiancee we stayed at Hotel Artus. It has recently been modernized and was a nice 3 star hotel. The Wifi was free and the breakfast plenty. Only small problem was that I ran out of shower gel and it was not refilled during the stay. The cleaning of the room was faultless apart from that. It is very central 50 m from the main pedestrian area with many cafés and nice inexpensive but good restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel is worth it also. The room was fairly sized.
