I stayed 4 nights and was given an upgraded room on the 15th floor. The Mercure is a typical large hotel chain with all the amenities. My room was large, I choose a double for one person not knowing if a single would be too small. The bathroom was clean, modern and in working order, daily maid service was consistent. The free WiFi worked well in both the room and the public areas, air conditioning & climate control worked well.

The location was excellent for many reasons. It is a 5 min. walk into the old town. There is a bus from the airport that drops off across the street from the hotel. The main rail station is close enough to walk to with luggage but far enough away that there is no train noise. It's easy to take day trips by train. Staff spoke English well and were very helpful in answering my questions about public transportation. The hotel stands out & is easy to find when wondering back from visiting the city.

They do get a lot of large tour groups and the buses are often out front in the morning.
If you are having breakfast it's worth timing your morning visit to avoid the large noisy crowds; either real early or after they all come through. Breakfast was above average, lots of cold and hot options, fruit, cereal, meats, cheeses, fish, breads, sweets, eggs, British options too. They kept refilling anything that was consumed & the food staff kept the areas clean and fresh.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have fantastic views overlooking the entire city, its wonderful to see all the tops of the old medieval buildings, in contrast to the modern parts of the city.

Modern internationally hotel situated only 6 minutes from the very beautiful and nice old center. Already before checing in I was met by the very good service the hotel provide. I asked by mail about transport from the airport and only few minutes later a taxi was organised to a fixed price - and the taxi was waiting when I landed. The hotel is efficient with very clean rooms, a very good breakfast buffet, a quiet nighbourhood and a generally high standard. No wifi in my room but free wifi in the lobby and in the meeting rooms. The service to our meeting worked perfectly - coffee, tea juice, sandwiches, IT that worked etc. A sure choice but on the other hand not so much charm or special characteristics you will remember. For business it is perfect, for a weekend break also - but some may prefer a smaller and more cosy hotel in the center.

Room Tip: I would as for rooms on the higher floors to get a view of the old city.

even before i arrived at the hotel i noticed the good service. I was about to hours before the earliest check in time and i called the hotel. It took only seconds and then they told me that this is no problem and i can get into my room.
The hotel is opposite a big shopping center, so it´s no problem if you need something to buy.
The lobby is very big and nice. The service at the check in was even very kind and professionel.
My room was in the 10th floor with a with to the harbour. The room was well epuipped and in a good condition. Merely in the bath there were some corners where the chrome was away from the mountings.
The hotel is very good located, you need only 2 minutes to get into the center of the beautiful center of the old town.
And if you want to go to the airport, there is a sity terminal oposite the hotel and a shuttle bus leaves right from the hotel to the airport. The price for the shuttle bus is very cheap, about 5 Euro

I cant really say a bad word about this hotel! Location very center, close to the old town, train station, etc.. Staff very professional and polite. Rooms had everything we needed, good size TV, wifi, a very comfortable bed! Plenty of space. Very clean. Definietly recommend it :)

I was thoroughly pleased with my stay at the Mercure Hevelius (now renamed Stare Miasto). Staff was helpful, the view of the Old Town from my 13th floor room was wonderful, breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty. You can't ask for a better location: Galleria Madison one block away, train station five minutes' walk away, and the Dlugi Targ ten minutes' walk away. My only issue is that the rooms are all the same size (except for the suites) and that they are very tiny. Not a problem for me when I travel alone, but I could see these rooms being a real squeeze for two people. On the other hand, the Mercure is a real bargain. I have paid rather more in Gdansk and gotten rather less. Very highly recommended for individual travelers... for couples, not so sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Old Town
