“Poor staff, shoddy hotel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2010

Staying here right now, booked a room for 2 adults & 2 children, got a crummy double room which we had to complain about before getting a barely acceptable one. Some staff ok but some on reception are atrocious and barely respond to you. No air conditioning a major drawback and food is poor. Stay closer to Sopot, it's worth the extra cost you will pay on taxis!

Be careful there and watch hotel thieves! During a workshop conducted by me I left my movie camera in the conference room. Service suggested it was safe. But it disappeared during the night. Manager was very nice, signed a protocol of thievery, but police found nothing. Their insurance company stated that my movie camera bought for 900 euro was worth less than 200 euro and refused compensation. And the hotel director informed me after 3 quarters that they were not sure if I had a camera in the hotel. They paid no reparation. That was very arrogant – be careful there!

Calm area, near beach, but far to the nearest supermarket were you can by food and water. The staff do not smile at all, if we asked about something in the reception, they didnt seem to want to inform you about anything. If they spoke to you and the phone rang, they choosed to answer the phone instead. The phone is prioried before the customers at this hotel. All the staff should have a course in how to treat a customer. No smile, no service, no attention to the customers, especially if you were not polish. In this area people speak bad english or no english at all. They dont like tourists.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The location is very good if you're looking for a quiet spot. It's a bit of a walk (but pleasant) to the city centre of Sopot. If you want to get to the centre of Gdansk, you need to take a tram. The room was not as good as I expected but was enough as a place for sleeping. Breakfast was good but could be better.

good location, clean rooms, very friendly staff.
we got different room than we'd booked - no sofa and smoking room instead of non-smoking;
expensive car park facilities for hotel guests;

Stayed here for 5 nights with my wife and 13 year old child. We got a good rate, Novotel had a summer sale on at the end of June and got the room for €190 for the 5 nights.

The hotel is located 50m from the beach but about 3km from Sopot town centre. Taxis were cheap however (about 16zl/€4) and we used them to get to town. The room itself was ok but our biggest complaint was that it was too hot at night, no air conditioning and you could only open the window a few centimeters. The staff were polite but not overly welcoming or friendly. There is an indoor pool which we use a lot and is free of charge for guests. We only took breakfast one day, it was overpriced at 42zl, we got much better value in Sopot. We rented bicycles at 10zl per hour.

If you want to be close to the beach, this hotel would be a good option, otherwise I would stay closer to Sopot. For the price we paid, I was quite satisfied with this hotel but it would not be of the standard of other Novotels we have stayed in.
