“Excellent place to stay to see gdansk”
Reviewed 23 October 2012 via mobile

From the moment we arrived the staff were excellent. They let us check in early so we could make the most of our first day. Rooms were spotless with very comfy beds. Free wifi throughout the hotel. Bar staff were very friendly. We would definitely go back.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay here and have to say it was very good from start to finish. The reception staff were very helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. We had two rooms and these were adjoining with wonderful views of the river and they were very toasty, Wi Fi in the hotel was very good, bathrooms were nice and modern and the room was kept spotless only downside to the rooms are there are no tea and coffee making facilities and safe in the rooms which you do expect now days but this certainly didnt spoil our stay.
We were visiting friends so we were out and about all the time and i must admit i was surprised at how pretty Sopot and the old town areas were. We ate out for all of our meals and found them to be good value for money, the local beer is also very good as is the Goldwasser.Overall a very good stay and we would certainly recommend and hope to come back in the new year too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river, views are very good.

We were pleasantly surprised during our 2-night stay at this hotel in late September and would highly recommend it to other travellers.

Positives:
- plenty of room regardless of three beds and 3 large suitcases in room (extra fold-out bed was comfortable also)
- housekeeping proudly kept the room spotless each day
- 2 x bottles water per person (carbonated and non-carbonated)
- close to waterfront, old town, Amber Street, fruit and veg markets
- endless choices at buffet breakfast (various fish dishes, cold cuts, whole fruit, fruit compote, raw veggies, eggs, bacon, sausages, rolls, breads, apple cake, juice, coffee, tea)
- quiet location
- renovated bathroom with hairdryer

Drawbacks:
- crazy shower curtain-less shower meant water splashed on bathroom floor if one was not careful

We ate at Bar Jacobsen for lunch on two occasions and were not disappointed - excellent value for money with large portions ensuring no dinner was eaten on those nights! Exit the hotel and turn right, you won't miss it.

Stayed at the Hanza Hotel in Gdansk in July and had a wonderful time. Location is fabulous, facing the river in the Old Town. Hotel staff very friendly and attentive in the restaurants/bar. Breakfast had a great selection of hot and cold entres, lots of fruit and fresh baked goods and sweets, and lovely area to sit outside. We were fortunate to have a suite facing the river. It was huge with a living area, large bedroom and bathroom. Room had WIFI, which worked well. The price was extremely reasonabe especially in high season. Location was right in the Old Town so close to great restaurants, shops and a short walk or ferry ride to the Philharmonic. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Room Tip: request a room facing the river for a nice view

Myself and husband travelled with another couple to Gdansk for a long weekend. We had a whale of a time. It was our first time in Gdansk although my hubby and myself had been to Poland on numerous occasions before.. And chose Gdansk to introduce our friends to the lovely country.. None of us was disappointed.

We Loved the hotel as much as the city itself. It was on the river front and our room had a balcony which overlooked the river with stunning views. It was lovely to sit on the terrace with a beer and chill. The room was very pleasant and spotlessly clean with the most comfiest bed and pillows. The shower and bathroom were lovely and very clean. One downside.. No coffee making facilities. We took our own travel kettle and the cleaner washed up our own personal mugs that we had taken with us.

Another downside which we encountered was noisy maids early on a Sunday morning.. Not what you want after a late beery night on the Saturday ! But because they always washed our mugs .. We let them off.. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was nice.. Bacon, egg, toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit , cheese meats and cakes. With lovely coffee..

Out of the hotel we filled our days by visiting lovely sopot on an olde worlde carriage train.. We trod the cobbles, ate in pancake shops, drank beer, visited the torture chambers, shot real guns , visited the Amber museums and the fort. And after 4 action packed days we hadn't done half the stuff we wanted to! In the evening, we dined like royalty at the same restaurant as Maggie thatcher, princess Anne and George bush ate -pod lososiem.. (beautiful meal with out of this world service - for a very reasonable price).. We ate on the square and ate lovely steaks for peanuts! The beer flowed well , and we had a great night at coyote ugly show in a bar, what a laugh.

The architecture around us was amazing.. People were friendly and we had a whale of a time. Our friends were astounded by Poland and we made an excellent choice by choosing Gdansk for their first trip. We will be going back to Gdansk to see the bits we never got the time to see and we will be returning to the Hanza hotel when we do.

Room Tip: Room 104 .. Excellent views with balcony...

We vacationed with 7 other couples for a long weekend. The hotel was clean and comfortable with fine breakfasts and a great bar with a tremendous selection of scotch whiskeys.
Reception was helpful in advising and arranging tours and events.
Location is good too.

Michael

Room Tip: Riverside rooms offer a better view if desired.

Nothing special, but a nice place to stay if visiting Gdansk old town area. The back of the hotel opens to the river walk which is nice, The rooms are just O.K. beginning to show some wear. The bathrooms are large, with a tub and shower with the half glass instead of a shower curtain. Can't take a shower without getting water on the floor. Air conditioning did not cool the room very well. Breakfast was excellent with about anything you could want.
