Climbing the bell tower is a must - the panotamic view of the city is gorgeous from there.
The inner space is really impressive.

“Organ Concert”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Organ concert every Friday evening, but maybe only in summer. Concert was a bit long and tickets a bit pricey. Be sure to see the clock on the wall in the nave to the left.

Magnificent architecture dominating the heart of the main town. When you are in,you just keep staring the outstanding works of art everywhere. This church is not to be missed .Saw a young lady with a baby begging at the entrance in the hot sun.The lady cashier was very rude.

“Not to be missed!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

If in Gdansk, ir one of the two other cities that make up the the local area, then a visit to the St. Mary is a necessity.Visible from all over Gdansk it makes its presence felt drawing the visitor to go inside. The interesting exterior becomes a fascinating interior full of historical, scientific and religious interest. The astronomical clock could keep your interest for some time...exactly that... as you try to 'sus out' what time it is - together with all the other information it is displaying.
For the energetic, a climb to the top of the tower reveals the wonderful birds eye roofdotted skyline of Gdansk. A full 'headset tour' is available, taking around 40 mins.

“Interesting Historical Church”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

St. Mary's in old town is thought to be the largest brick church in the world. The church was seriously damaged during WW II and the original frescoes have since been whitewashed. The enormous astronomical clock dating from 1464 should not be missed. An interesting part of the church's modern history is that during the period of martial law between 1981 and 1983 members of the Solidarity movement sought refuge here. A visit to the church is free and there is a small fee to climb to the top of the tower for amazing views.
