Monument is excellent, just on from Road to Freedom Centre. The large size as you look up is relevant to the enourmous battle and changes to Poland that this monument represents

This monument to the Shipyard Workers is near the entrance to what was the Lenin Shipyard, commemorates the 42 people killed during the anti-Communist riots of 1970 and is depicted by three forty-two meter steel crosses which rises over Solidarity Square. A must see in Gdansk.

If you grew up in the 80's and saw Walesa protest in front of the wharf gates, you saw the riots and you know the impact it had when the Pope said a prayer (against the will of the officials) at this momument. You shoukd visit it and pay tribute to the Polish struggle for freedom

We did go the long way round.... Following the river.... When there was a much more direct walk. That said, it was interesting to see, and really quite poignant. A real modern piece of history. A must visit in Gdansk.

A must-see monument and outdoor exhibition, very moving and heartening at the same time. Shows the power of people coming together for the common good.
