Very nice little hotel in "Downton Abbey" style, very nice and helpful staff, nice breakfast and only a few meters to the ferry or a 5 minutes walk to old town. We will definately come back and stay at this hotel .

We were 2 couples going together to celebrate 2 birthdays and the stay was perfect - more than what we had dreamed of. Everybody in the hotel was very friendly and we felt so welcome and well taken care of. The rooms were beautiful with the great view of the crane, the river and old town. It took us 5-10 minutes to go to old town and all the interesting sigths. The breakfast was excellent with a varied selection of hot food (menu in Norwegian),, fruits, cheeses and local hams etc. The service at the reception was very helpful and we got all the information we needed for sigths, shopping and restaurants. We will definitely go back to Podewils next time we go to Gdansk, preferably during summer next time, to see the town with flowers and more life along the river.

Room Tip: 2 rooms on first floor with a small hall to share and view of the crane, the river and old town.

This is one of the most cozy, charming and professional hotels I've ever stayed at.
We departed from Oslo on a Friday, and due to weather conditions we ware late. I emailed the hotel with questions regarding pickup and food, this when we still were waiting for the plane to depart. The hotel responeded immediately, not only to the first email, but "all" 4 of them.
When we finally arrived at the hotell, we were greated with the sence of coming home. All paperwork was prepared, and the meat platter was ready to be served. We only needed to choose which table we would like to sit at. The time was now 0015. The food was splendid, they serrved what we requested and if we wanted anything else, we olnly had to ask the gentleman (doorman).
This is a warm and including hotel, very including. I usually eat breakfast a couple of times in one day, so I woke at 0730, got dressed and hoped for food, but the breakfast wasn't until 0800. Normally I've have to wait, but not here, the woman that greeted us upon oure arrival was the same to greet me know, she was quite baffled and asked: "Didn't I tell you the time's yeasterday?" with a warm smile. I nodded, agreeing, my mistake. Anyhow, she continued with: "its no problem if you come early or late, just let us know. Wait for one minute, I'm sure you can eat breakfast now...
The dining room i small, but "warm". We were presented with breakfast a la carte menues in our preferred language. The buffet was very good, fresh bread and juice, this togheter with quality fruit, cheese, meat and more we/I was more than impressed.

Gdansk is a nice town, but this hotel makes Gdansk a perfect place to slip away for a romantic weekend. p.s This hotel + Goldwasser's duck = A happy couple.

Room Tip: Doesn't really matter, you don't go to gdans to stay in your room and look out windows.... h...

To start..arrive in style and order the limo collection from the airport. It costs little more than a taxi..32 Euros (26 quid) and is well worth it for the convenience and luxury.

Upon arrival you are struck by how small an beautifully formed it is..I would say no more than 20 rooms. The decor is tasteful, traditional and warming. However, and this is the big selling feature, the staff and levels of service here are fantastic, that from the first welcome to the final wave goodbye. Nothing is too much trouble, and even a casual inquiry about trains to Sopot elicited print offs of timetables and maps.Little notes about the next day weather are also placed on the pillows of your turned down bed

Breakfast is super and cooked to your request, hot and tasty if you want, buffet if you don't.

Room Tip: Note to the manager...you should be very proud of your team. They are the best I have come across. O...

Rated a 5 star hotel and it does qualify. It is a beautful old building which is well-preserved and taken care of. The location is outstanding across the canal from the old city. The view at night from our room was lovely to look at when all the lights came on across the water. The staff are extremely conscientious and helpful. We have nothing but praise for them. We had to leave at 3:30 am due to unfortunate flight connections and they could not have been more helpful. We took their hired car from and to the airport and I felt the expense was worth it. The only criticism I have is the dinner in their restaurant which is a charming place and must be lovely in the summer. But the cuisine is not up to the excellent standards of the rest of the hotel relative to the cost. Breakfast in the same room in the morning was good value.

Room Tip: room 201. Lovely room with view.

This is our second time to stay at Hotel Podewils and it won't be our last. We love this hotel. It is so cozy. The furnishings are lovely and the rooms are decorated so nicely and are very comfortable. I even love the carpet. The staff is outstanding. Hanna was very helpful. The breakfast served daily was fantastic with made to order eggs. The view from our room was stunning of the canal and Old Town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a canal and old town view.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in november with our 8 months old baby. The hotel was unique, small, quiet and super charming. Wonderful staff, fresh flowers in the room. I think there are only about 12 rooms, so the staff knows who you are, in what room you're staying, they follow you to the dining room the first day etc... I think this is the perfect hotel for couples (maybe even older couples 50 +), we loved it, but it wasn't very child friendly (for example there was no baby crib, no water boiler in the room to make porridge for baby (we had to buy one)). The rooms were beautiful and the bathroom was huge with a nice bath tub, but cold.. No heating in the floor. The beds weren't what you'd expect for a 5* hotel, I've experienced better. The location is fine, it takes you 10 min to walk to town, or 30 sek by boat in the day time.

One great minus was the dinner in the restaurant. It was not very good.. Breakfast was great. Another minus was that the walls were very thin! We had some teenagers in the room next to us, and they kept us awake with laughter and singing..

Next time we visit Gdansk we will stay at a less charming hotel, but if we come back in 20 yrs:) This might sound as if we didn't like it, we did! but it wasn't the right hotel for our situation.

Room Tip: We payed extra to get sea view, but the windows were so small you'd have to pop your head out to...
