“Great location”
Reviewed 19 July 2013 via mobile

Arrived quite late and used this hotel as a quick stop over. Nice greeting from reception and swiftly checked in. We put luggage into room then headed out to eat.
Room was a twin very spacious, clean and had separate lounge area.
Location set on Olowianka Island and approx 10 mins slow walk to old town. Views are good as set right on the Motława River.
As the wife is polish I'm a frequent visitor to Gdansk and this hotel was very enjoyable and would most definitely stay again.

All aspects of the hotel were as they should be. Good choice at buffet breakfast.
Ideal for our short revisit to Gdansk. We had an initial challenge of locating the hotel, but once we knew which road to take off the National Road 1 (E75) there was no problem.
The location, on Oliowianka Island, on the other side of the Motlawa River from the famous crane is ideal for easy walking access into the city centre. With free parking too. Fascinating building, renovated and remodelled from grainwe had a room that wasn't overlooking the river, but for one night, that did not detract from our stay. Definitely stay again if/when we come back to Gdansk - and would try and get a riverside room!!

Room Tip: Ask for a riverside room

We have stayed in this hotel for two nights. And have to say I am quite happy with the choice we have made booking that place. Hotel (build in accommodated old granary) althought old-ish from outside is quite modern inside. Room was quite OK. Spaces and clean with all facilities you might need.

All staff we have been dealing with was very professnal, polite and helpful.

Buffet style breakfast was much better than I have expected. You could choose between cereal, scrambled, boiled or fried egs, bacon, boiled sausaglues and a huge selection of cold meet, cheese and vegetables. And of course fresh bred. Coffe, although from machine, quite tasty and strong.

Also it is important to point that location is perfect. It is situated at the Motlawa river opposite old town. During the day there is a ferry departing from the pier next to Marine Museum and crossing Motlawa (1.5PLN) taking people right to the entrance to the old town (Zlota Brama). Otherwise you have to walk for 10 minutes.

The only thing I believa this hotel is missing is air-con in rooms as during hot days to be able to slee you have to keep windows open.

In general this is good hotel and worth to visit.

Room Tip: No A/C. Ask for the rooms with the view on the Motlawa.

We stayed at the Hotel Krolewski last November for 4 days for my birthday. It was my first trip to Poland and I was not disappointed. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite and the room was large and spacious with a great view of the Motlawa river and the city beyond.
We walked into the Old City square every day (beautiful and Medievel), taking us only about 15 to 20 minutes. Other days, we used the brilliant tram system to get around (very cheap). My partner speaks Polish, so that made things much easier!
Restaurants and bars day and night were very good and reasonable; we enjoyed the atmosphere of what seems the 'new' in Gdansk these days. Lots of people, all age groups, enjoying the place, with new and trendy shops and bars appearing apparently. We had such a great time.
Food and drink prices seemed very reasonable, cheaper than UK prices and what you got seemed a lot better quality.
Getting back to the hotel in the evening after a full day was lovely. It was so cold outside, yet the room was warm and cosy. The only thing that I didn't like was two single beds pushed together...I kept falling through the middle...and I had asked specifically for a proper double bed. Never mind, it all worked out in the end!
We did eat in the Krolewski one evening, but food was not very varied. I'm vegetarian, so that made it difficult! But my partner who eats meat did OK.
All in all a very enjoyable time at the Krolewski in Gdansk and I would recommend a stay here if you are on a short break as we were...really very nice all round.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view...you will not be disappointed!

Checked into the above, last minute. Very quaint setting overlooking the river and superb view of the old town. I have noted that some have commented on the distance to walk to the old town. However it takes 7 minutes and is a wonderful stroll along the developing quayside, so don't be put off by those who avoid exercise!!!! And to top it all the breakfast was fantastic. Wonderful setting, my only point I would make is that there may be a little noise as they are currently developing the quayside, but not a problem as work started at 7 ish. But if you're in Gdansk, then you're there to explore this beautiful city and not sleep in!!!

Original, lovely view of the river and central city.the service was helpful and friendly.I stayed 3 days, had breakfast and three fish and seafood meals, which were tasty and fresh. Despite wall to wall carpets you can be disturbed by noisy neighbours.
Though in the very centre, the island location requires you to walk a bit. But I will come again.

I stayed here towards the end of February 2013 having made a booking a month or so beforehand online so secured a good price. I was fully aware from both previous reviews and just by looking at the map that the hotel was a 10-15 minutes walk to the centre, so anybody carping about that needs to look at themselves first.

It was as well as the fresh air quite a pleasant and attractive stroll and it was interesting to note that some of the wartime ruins on one of the other islands are now being dealt with, having no doubt by now fully served their role as a reminder of the devastation and horrors that Gdansk suffered during WWII. It is interesting to note that Allied bombers had played their part in some of the destruction.

There is a little ferry close to the hotel costing 1.50PLN that saves the walk but this does not operate on Mondays and only during the Nautical Museum opening times, so it is not much use for evenings.

I found the hotel to be well modernised, friendly and efficiently run. The bedroom on the first floor was very spacious, although it was a double which I got for the price of a single as it was Low Season. The bathroom was a fair size and very clean , modern and well equipped although a shelf nearer the washbasin would have been useful.

Wi-Fi reception was erratic, and indeed seemed only to be available in the evenings.

The corridor was somewhat gloomy and this made operating the key even harder than it was - it looked though as a card system may be installed soon. I love taking the stairs for exercise but had to take the lift as it seemed that the fire-door leading to the stairs was locked.

Breakfast was abundant in choice of hot and cold food and drink, just took me a minute to fathom out how to operate the coffee machine, though.

Overall, apart from the Wi-Fi, I rate this hotel very highly and would certainly return again.
