“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2010

We stayed in this hotel four nights. Our flight was late and we came far into the night. This wasn't problem in this hotel and our check-in went like clockwork. Our room was clean, light and spacious. The room was not too cramped although there was one extra bed for our 16 years old daughter. A hotel staff was frienly and helpful. a restaurant of this hotel was nice and both breakfast and dinner was tasty. the hotel is not far from old town and close to the hotel is both bus and tram stop to the railway and bus stations.

Only negative thing was a noise of traffic. It was quite a loud. So try to get a room on the interior side of the hotel.

A very clean bright and quiet hotel. Our room was spacious, light and airy. twin beds, table and chairs, desk containing fridge. First rate bathroom with shower cubical. Breakfast was a well presented buffet with with a good range of choice. Evening meal was to a high standard and service was very good. Reception staff helpful and welcoming.
Hotel located five minutes walk to old town. Bus and tram stops nearby. Supermarket two minutes walk. Some nearby land is rundown but do not let this put you off. We felt safe to walk out at night in the locality.
An excellent choice for visiting Gdansk and the surrounding area.

We stayed in Dom Muzyka alomost two weeks/ job during the week and leasure in weekend. The rooms are clean, simply decorated, there is possible to prepeare tea or coffe/ catlle and cups in each room.
It is really nice, you can fell like home in warm room especially during the winter time. The building is very old, just renowated suituated very close to Academy of Music, where you can also find nice place/ student bar where they served not so much expensive lunches.
The working staff is so helpful and friendly.
It's 10 minutes wlak to the oldtown of such a beautiful city - Gdansk, I do hope you like it.
I do recomend the place to stay for weekend or longer stay as well.
Thank you so much to all workers, I do apreaciated.

Around 10 mins walk from Old Town but a good quiet location. Much lower rates than the hotels in town because of location and student accommodation type rooms, but good value. Try to get a room on the interior side of the hotel otherwise there is some traffic noise. Lots of single rooms. About 240 PLN for high season single. It is on the campus of the Music Academy.

We ordered a double standard room that faced the quiet zone (the other side of the hotel is fronting the busiest traffic street in Gdansk, so I recommend to ask for the quiet side). Since my mother uses medicine that requires a fridge and our room didnt have one, so they upgraded our room to a bigger one with fridge without any extra costs! What a great service. Great breakfast as well! The staff is also very helpfull with any questions. The hotel is also VERY clean!!!! I just loved it!!!!

We stopped in the Dom Muzyka last September for 5 nights. We were extremely surprised how nice this hotel was...after a good 30/40 minute drive (our driver went quite fast as well!) from the airport, the hotel suddenly appeared! On first impressions, the Hotel appears to situated in a slightly run-down area-don't let that put you off. The locals were fine and there was no hint of trouble at all. The hotel staff were really friendly and the hotel was very clean, although some may find it slightly basic. We thought it was fine though.
As others have said, it shares its ground with a music school. We went in September and it it a reasonably sized hotel with 'wing' type buildings. We were told that one wing closed during the winter and all the guests stay in the main part of the hotel which is what we did.

The hotel is only a 6~7 minute slow walk into the Old Town...just don't do what we did! We went exploring the first night and took a wrong turn! It took about 40 minutes for us to walk into the town! The best way to go into town is: out of the hotel main reception, turn LEFT onto the road, go to the end then LEFT again. The town is then immediately in front of you just over the bridge. There is a supermarket here as well. You'll see a load of posh boats on your right (and the Hotel Gdansk is a little further down the river) and just over the bridge is the start of the town. The building you walk under is Lech Wałęsa's office.

Just on a side note, go to the shipyard and find the museum (it's underground), well worth finding and visiting.

I would go back to Gdansk and I would be very happy to stay in the Dom Muzyka again. I'd give it 8.8/10. Recommended.
