“Great value in Gdansk”
Reviewed 12 December 2007

Have just returned from a 2-night stay at Hotel Angela, Gdansk. We found the Hotel modern, clean, staff friendly and fantastic buffet breakfast with every type of food you could want including herring! Great value!
The area is just outside the City Centre, 10 mins by bus or for only £3 for a taxi from the Centre.
Bus drivers did not speak much English and at night it was difficult to see our stop, so may as well use the Taxi.
Generally public transport was great, would recommend trip by train to Sopot & Gydnia.
Once you have visited the many historic buildings and monuments, would recommend trip to Road to Freedom exhibition, very moving but worth a visit.
Prices very cheap, you can eat out well for £5 including a couple of local vodkas.
Great shopping centres in Gydnia for good value but great quality clothes.
Locals very friendly and helpful.
Try to take a couple of Polish phrases.

Don't be put off that this is a 2 star hotel. It deserves at least a 3 star. I was really impressed. I have just returned from a trip to Poland and this hotel was awesome. The hotel is spotlessly clean and spacious. The rooms are lovely and at the perfect tempeature. There is free internet access and a direct line phone to your room - really what more could you want. Staff are so accomodating and helpfull. Complimentary bottles of water are put in your room every day. While there is no tea/coffee facilities in your room you are welcome to go down to the eating area at any time and help yourself to tea or coffee - you even get some biscuits to nibble on! Breakfast was good too and changed every day - there was yougurts, toasts, cereal, sausages (hot dogs and another type), cheese and meats and on my 2nd day there was also a omellete type meal on offer.

There is also two cheap supermarkets only 30 seconds away. Bus 184,130,115,384 or n6 (night bus) take you to the hotel from gdnask. take bus B from the airport to Gdnask. I would recommend a day ticket which cost 9.20 zlotey which is valid for 24 hours - note you cant buy these from the driver you can buy them at tourist information in the airport.

I recommend you do a search via here

Our stay at Hotel Angela was quite pleasant. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained and the reception helped us a lot as explored Gdansk. My only complaint is that I wish it were a bit closer to the picturesque old town-- as it is, it's a short bus ride or about a thirty-minute walk, and there isn't much around the hotel. Otherwise, a great experience!

Just returned from a 5 night stay at hotel angelia and for what we pid it is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Booked it after reading reviews and it certainly did not dissapoint. Even though it is not in the centre of gdansk there is a very good bus service which departs opposite the hotel and leaves from the KYC next to the station. Staff were helpfully and could not do enough for you. Would recommend it to anyone as long as they do not mind being on the outskirts of the city.

We stayed in this hotel simply due to the great reviews on this site. All that I can say is we certainly were not disappointed and its worth every one of the 5 star ratings it gets.
1. The hotel is spotless
2. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is a bother to them, giving directions, ideas and booking taxis when required
3. Rooms are cleaned thoroughly each day, our maid even folded some of my lothes and left them neatly on the bed.
4. location is ideal in that its merely a 5 min taxi ride or 5 stop bus journey from the centre. This makes the hotel very cost effective as the hotels in the centre are much more expensive.
5. I rang before I travelled and requested room 310 or 311 which both had a balcony and view. My reservation and payment was only for a standard room. This was superior and was given at no extra charge.
6. The Showers were excellent Power Showers
7. The breakfast was homecooked Polish style and delicious and wholesome.

In short... dont delay, dont ponder, just book it.. you wont be disappointed.

Just a quick stay and just a quick review.

The Villa Angela is a little out in the suburbs from Gdansk (a place best visited in the summer!) but it is on many bus routes to the historic center of Gdansk as well as to the main train station (if you want to visit the seaside town of Sopot). Transport info is in the room.

The hotel itself is served by very friendly and helpful staff - I'd guess they're used to customers from Germany and England a lot.

Our room was tidy and spacious and kept very clean. We even had a view (admittedly Gdansk at a distance) and there is a supermarket or two nearby if you want to stock up on supplies.

The bathroom was everything you'd expect from a decent quality hotel so really, no complaints.

I can't comment on breakfast as we never managed to get to it. The dangers of a bad schedule on our part.
