“Excellent for cleanliness, comfort, security, value and staff but....”
Reviewed 24 February 2008

We had a very enjoyable stay in Gdansk at the Angela from 20-23 Feb 2008. All the hotel staff we met were exceptional for their helpfulness, efficiency and friendliness. The hotel was very clean and attractive both inside and outside. The room was a reasonable size with two twin beds forming a very comfortable "king size" bed, a desk / dressing table with TV and tea making facilities, sofa, balcony, en-suite with toiletries etc. The room had a direct telephone number - hence after a quick, cheap call we were able to receive a long international call without any pressure to release the hotel line.
The buffet breakfast was very good and well stocked with a good choice of meats, fish, cheese, jams, cereals, fruits, juices, teas etc.
Now the two buts. The walls are thin. As long as the other guests are considerate or you are not a light sleeper then this is OK. I had 1 bad night out of 3 whereas my wife had 3 good nights.
The other consideration is location. It is a 10 minute bus ride to the old town but the bus stop is very close and the buses (115, 130, 184, 384) are very frequent and cheap. Tips - a 24 hour bus ticket costs only 9.10 zlty including the airport bus - buy at the airport info desk. 15 zlty buys a 24 hour bus and train ticket covering Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia.

Just back from a 4 night stay at the Angela, location is a bit out of the way but public transport is pennies, and taxis are not bad either, (18Zl to town, 31 Zl to the Airport}. Hotel is absolutely spotless, rooms a bit on the small side but OK for a short break, staff VERY friendly & polite and the Breakfast is the best we've ever encountered in Poland having stayed in many hotels across the country. Only thing I can fault it on is, the walls are very thin, you'd better be a sound sleeper if you want a good nights rest, and the lack of bars or restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. {We like to go where the locals go, but on this occasion we couldn't find it!). All in all, a great find, and unbeatable for the price.

Have just returned from a 2-night stay at Hotel Angela, Gdansk. We found the Hotel modern, clean, staff friendly and fantastic buffet breakfast with every type of food you could want including herring! Great value!
The area is just outside the City Centre, 10 mins by bus or for only £3 for a taxi from the Centre.
Bus drivers did not speak much English and at night it was difficult to see our stop, so may as well use the Taxi.
Generally public transport was great, would recommend trip by train to Sopot & Gydnia.
Once you have visited the many historic buildings and monuments, would recommend trip to Road to Freedom exhibition, very moving but worth a visit.
Prices very cheap, you can eat out well for £5 including a couple of local vodkas.
Great shopping centres in Gydnia for good value but great quality clothes.
Locals very friendly and helpful.
Try to take a couple of Polish phrases.

Don't be put off that this is a 2 star hotel. It deserves at least a 3 star. I was really impressed. I have just returned from a trip to Poland and this hotel was awesome. The hotel is spotlessly clean and spacious. The rooms are lovely and at the perfect tempeature. There is free internet access and a direct line phone to your room - really what more could you want. Staff are so accomodating and helpfull. Complimentary bottles of water are put in your room every day. While there is no tea/coffee facilities in your room you are welcome to go down to the eating area at any time and help yourself to tea or coffee - you even get some biscuits to nibble on! Breakfast was good too and changed every day - there was yougurts, toasts, cereal, sausages (hot dogs and another type), cheese and meats and on my 2nd day there was also a omellete type meal on offer.

There is also two cheap supermarkets only 30 seconds away. Bus 184,130,115,384 or n6 (night bus) take you to the hotel from gdnask. take bus B from the airport to Gdnask. I would recommend a day ticket which cost 9.20 zlotey which is valid for 24 hours - note you cant buy these from the driver you can buy them at tourist information in the airport.

I recommend you do a search via here

Our stay at Hotel Angela was quite pleasant. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well-maintained and the reception helped us a lot as explored Gdansk. My only complaint is that I wish it were a bit closer to the picturesque old town-- as it is, it's a short bus ride or about a thirty-minute walk, and there isn't much around the hotel. Otherwise, a great experience!

Just returned from a 5 night stay at hotel angelia and for what we pid it is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Booked it after reading reviews and it certainly did not dissapoint. Even though it is not in the centre of gdansk there is a very good bus service which departs opposite the hotel and leaves from the KYC next to the station. Staff were helpfully and could not do enough for you. Would recommend it to anyone as long as they do not mind being on the outskirts of the city.
