“Nice place to stay in Sopot”
Reviewed 11 June 2012

I spent 2 night in Pensyonat Sopocki in June. Really nice, spacious, stylish room and bathroom. Very good location, close to main street (local bars & restaurant), 15 min. walk to the beach. Very friendly staff.
Minuses: no 24 hours reception- you have to call before arrival, limited parking space, rooms with street view are a bit noisy.

Very good location around the corner from the top of the main street Bohartow Monte Cassino, convenient for all the many bars and restaurants in Sopot. The rooms at Pensyonat Sopocki are very attractively furnished with dark wood and the tea and coffee making facilities in the hallway are great. The beds are comfortable and furnishings and decor are immaculate. The towels are not changesd on a daily basis but this was not a problem to us. The staff are not based at the pension but the lady who checked us in was often at the property and was very helpful when we had queries.

We had a room at the rear of the property which is the best location as it is away from the traffic noise from the busy road outside. there is the sound of the passing trains but this did not bother us at all and it was quite nice to hear and see the trains. The accomodation is on the 2nd floor and there is no lift but this is not a problem provided you do not have walking difficulties and are ok to carry your cases up the stairs. Again the clerk was helpful by carrying one of our cases.

The area at the top of Monte Cassino has a lot of graffitti but is perfectly safe and when you have walked through the railway underpass the area becomes much more attractive as you stroll down the mainly pedestrianised thoroughfare with countless bars and restaurants to choose from. This makes for a very pleasant stroll and is usually busy with people. Attractions well worth experiencing in Sopot are: walking on the Molo pier and the promenade (check out the cafes right on the beautiful sandy beach), the view from the lighthouse, strolling on Monte Cassino and eating and drinking in the Blue Poodle bar. Try the Zurek soup, typical Polish fare and warms you up if the weather turns cool.

Mid-September was a great time to visit, not warm enough to swim but great for sightseeing with the temperature getting up to a maximum of about 21 degrees Centigrade.

Pensyonat Spocki is well located for the railway station for the SKM commuter trains for local trips to Gdansk and Gydinia and also the PKP line which cater for long distance train travel. A great day out can be had by catching the SKM train to Gydinia and then changing trains and buying a ticket for the PKP train to Hel which is a picturesque fising village a the tip of a narrow peninsular with the Baltic Sea on one side and the Bay of Puck on the other.

Great experience and great value at Pensyonat Sopocki. We shall return next time we are visiting Sopot and Gdansk.

Room Tip: Rooms at rear of property are quieter
