“Just the best hotel in Sopot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

This is just the best hotel in Sopot.
Located on the beach, just minutes from the Monte Cassino street ( located centrally but still quiet! ).The building itself is just magnificent although it has lost some of its historic atmosphere after the renovation.
The room we stayed in was spacious, very clean and with a big bathroom.
Staff are extremely helpfull and friendly.
Dont miss the wall in a bar area with the pictures of all the great guests that stayed at the Grand hotel in the past ( Marlena Dietrich, Charles De Gaulle, footballers, singers etc )

If you only go to Sopot once, stay at the Grand hotel. Centrally located, with own beach and the pier next to it, it has this air of old splendor. It could be more up to date but it always provides a nice, comfortable, classic hotel experience. The restaurant offers traditional Polish food and feels like it has not change for a long time. Once of my classic favorites.

Stayed here for just one night after a few days in Gdansk, wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a sea-facing room with a little balcony (standing room only) but was a great view to wake up too. We were staying off season, so hotel was quiet but that made it feel rather special as we were the only guests in the bar so had the full attention of the staff.

Didn't take breakfast there, the price was far too high but there are plenty places nearby to take breakfast for a quarter of the price.

Room Tip: Sea View is wonderful.

I stayed one night in December, which is the low season in Sopot. First time in Sopot (business) I was truely surprised to see the Cannes style reviera in Northern Poland. The Whole town is nice and genuine. I can imagine the crowds in summer...
The hotel had a good winter rate and I guess it was less than 50% full. Splendid old Palace style building. Service was excellent and the fitness center also. Got a nice room on the 3rd floor with a full sea view. The room was modern and reflected the 5 stars. Thick towels, a styled bathroom and light wooden floors with modern furniture - a nice combination to this Grand Old Hotel built in the 20es..
In winter this hotel is nice getaway if you are visiting Gdansk

Very beautiful, newly renovated hotel at the beach of Sopot. Service not so good. Do not pay for breakfast. It is no value for money. No attending staff, food is poor(on a budget?). Seems to be an advantage if you are polish speaking(at least seems to be attended). Possibly a system where you can order food, but do not know if it means extra cost or not! I chose to eat out, for lunch and dinner, fearing the restaurant being as bad as the breakfast.
No doorman, no bellboy. Claim to have 24 hours Room Service, but after midnight, the menu is limited to 3 courses(one is not recommended). In addition no beverages, because the bar is closed!(we arrived at 0100hrs). This is not a 5 star hotel. Service 3. Hotel 4,5. The swimming pool, and spa was delicious and professional. Loved the room, and it was clean.

This hotel is such a luxurious place to stay with an interesting historical background.

It's my second time staying here for work and I couldn't recommend it enough. If you can get a sea view room you'll be in for a treat with a fabulous vista of the Baltic Sea.

Food is excellent, service is first class. Staff are very attentive.

The only negative point I have is that renovations are taking place on the far right side of the hotel (The Sheraton side) these were disturbing on a few mornings and woke me as they were quite noisy. Also there is a man who power washes the paving stones in the garden area first thing in the morning, this is also quite inconvenient if you have had a late night the previous night.

But aside from this, we had a wonderful stay in 5* style.

Stayed for long weekend in last July. We had two rooms, one suite and one standard, though it did not seem to be much difference between them. Hotel has got a great location adjacent to the beach, part of which is private to the hotel. We spent most of the time there. Great service and attention from the beach staff and super food and even better cocktails. Hotel seemed flush with Polish celebrities so it was quite good fun to people watch. And bizarrely Rihanna turned up on the private beach at one point, she was there for the festival in Gdynia. So it is one of those places where the unexpected happens. Also great indoor pool and spa.
