This statue probably was not here during Soviet times as it commemorates the Polish soldiers who died in the war against the Russian Bosheviks in 1920. A female holds a laurel crown above the head of a soldier who died 'in the name of God'. The Bolshevik communists did not believe in God.
Perhaps more interesting than the statue are the surroundings: lush green forest 'Rezerwat Las Zwierzyniecki' another green lung of Bialystok city. Good for running and cycling or just a walk. Wonderful.
