Unfortunately, this hotel is recommended by a lot of people on other sites - I guess it's because they haven't even thought there might be another option in the area. The hotel is located by the main transit road and it certainly is more an old motel than 3* hotel. The rooms are not too clean and the smell is awful. I had the impression all the truck drivers who slept there in the past are still present in the room. And I believe most of them were smokers.
We've stayed in this hotel more than once and nothing about the previous review is plausible. OK, it's 3 years later, but Cieszyn is on the Czech border - no where near Warsaw! and there is no lake nearby (there is the river on the border). Hotel 500 is on a highway and is designed for transitting travellers - not leisure! Would recommend it as convenient, pleasant, good service.
We booked this hotel at the lakes just outside of Warsaw for a weekend, with the hope of some R & R in a reasonable place with lovely surroundings.Aside from the weather unfortunately not playing ball also, this hotel was fairly appalling. The main issues were with the surly service (" An extra pillow? Is one not enough for you?!"), and the very low quality of the rooms. We tried 2 in all - both terrible, with shower brackets broken, cracked baths, and some disgusting looking rust in one of them. The neon strip light in the room didn't add to it's charm either. If I had to pick a plus out, their restaurant had a fairly good menu and did some excellent pierogi (polish dumplings). But don't stay here!
