“Good hotel, odd location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

Booked a large suite at this hotel, just because it was affordable. Seems that they have to adjust on prices, because the hotel is located somewhat outside the town centre, making you dependent on taxi or other means of transportation.

The suite was ok, with several rooms, to bathrooms and everything very spacious. It did give a slight impression of being worn, textile on floor and furniture just a little "not new" - with some stains.

Despite these little minor details, we had a great stay and a good night sleep.

We didn't find anything tempting on the menu for dinner, so that was eaten at an outside restaurant. The breakfast was good, with enough choices.

I tried to book this hotel through their web site but it kept refusing to process the booking so booked through Travel Republic. Booked two rooms, one single and one for three people. Upon arriving we were booked into two double rooms and it cost another 75zl per night for a room with a pull out sofa bed.

The young lady on the reception desk was very pleasant.

The evening meal in the restaurant was not great, the chicken broth soup was very spicy, peppery and the spare ribs in honey sauce was edible but I would give it 3 out of 10.

The single room was nice and specious but had a TV that would not work, as we arrived late I did not bother to complain on the night. The other room was small, divided into two, with one double bed and as said pullout double bed that was very uncomfortable and took up the whole room.

The breakfast was very very good, plenty of quality choice, it earned the hotel an extra star.

When I complained about the TV not working no one even said sorry we will get it fixed.

This was the worst Best Western hotel I ever stayed in.

One odd thing was the carpet through out the hotel , it looked dirty, whether it was a pattern or it was actually dirty, photo enclosed so decide for yourselves.

There was several electric points , the Wifi reasonably fast, the proper beds were comfortable, the air con worked well and had a control panel in each room. Nice touch was each room had complimentary bottles of water and chocolates.

I was in this hotel for a night. The hotel is good, well mentained. Rooms are good. But I felt the room is little small in my experience with other hotels. But anyway, its good for a short business trip.

Summary: Not the most eye catching from the outside, but inside is modern and more of a boutique feel with great staff and a nice restaurant, all for a very reasonable price.

Katowice is an industrial city and to be honest what I saw of it didnt do it any favours. However we arrived late evening and the hotel seemed to be a seventies style concrete tower block. My colleague at our office had booked it and it was only for one night so I thought OK I'll live with it. However on entering the hotel became totally different.

The staff at check in were friendly and spoke perfect English and I was checked in within a few seconds. My room was on the 7th floor and the only gripe would be that the lifts (elevators) were very slow. But on entering my room there was a very modern, colourful and funky decoration with all the amenities you would need including mini-bar, flat screen TV, internet, toilettries etc. Everything was clean and tidy with plenty of wardrobe space for clothes. Complimentary bottled water was also provided.

After a quick unpack it was down to the in-house restaurant run by one Adama Gessler, who is apprently Polands answer to Gordon Ramsey, being a well known TV chef. The menu had a good selection of appetisers, starters and main courses with a mixture of well known and more traditional dishes. I had potato pancakes and salmon to start followed by a traditional Stroganov. All very tasty accompanied with a nice bottle of Red. All the dishes were finished off at the table by the chef and plated up for you - a nice touch. My colleagues encouraged me to try something different such as the Mackrel marinated in Linseed oil - I gave that one a swerve.

Breakfast was served in the restuarant with a mainly continental selection but a chef was on hand to make various egg dishes for you there and then.

Anyway check out was as quick as checkin and the the nights B&B came to the princely sum of £47. If this was the UK I could probably add another £100 on to that.

If your in the area I'd recommend it.

Room Tip: Get a room on the opposite side of the main road

The hotel is generally very nice, great stuff (were very helpful in organizing taxi prior to my arrival), nice decoration, clean, not much to add.
Few drawbacks - bathroom is partially opened (sink in the living area), this leads to smaller bathroom and limited space in the room, furthermore, the size of sink is enough to wash two fingers maximum..
The bed was quite hard.
Nice breakfast with good choice of food.
Summary, for some 55 EUR I payed a great stay

Room Tip: A room in top floor of building will provide a nice view, but you will spent half of day in rush hou...

Very nice hotel for a short business stay. The rooms are niecly fitted, even though the building itself looks like quite old. Thay could improve wifi in the rooms. The hotel has a very good restaurant, the food is great and breakfast are even better then anywhere else. Probably the hotel cannot compete with top tier hotels like Monopol but it definitely beats up direct competition (Novotel or Qubus)

My partner and I spend New Years Eve 2013 here. On arrival there was a slight mix up about our room but before I had a chance to fully explain the manager upgraded us to the Executive room as a "new years gift". We went up to this room but found that it smelled of smoke, my partner not being a smoker went to ask about this and they moved us again without a complaint and apologising profusely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant owned by celebrity foodatron Adam Gessler serves very good and affordable local "silesian" dishes. The bar did close at 8pm (Usually 11pm) but the 24 hour service station opposite sells alcohol 24 Hours a day. The hotel is on the edge of the massive silesia park which is well worth a visit for a walk, ice cream, beer, zoo or ride on the cable car. The centre on Katowice is a bit of a shlep but the hotel arranges taxis for 10 zloty (£2) so not a problem. All in all a great Hotel and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Be clear about the doubles/twin option when you book.
