Reviewed 30 April 2013 via mobile

I stayed in this hotel for 8 nights B&B. Hotel is approximately 20 minute tram journey to Krakow centre.
I had problem with my room & when I brought this to attention of receptionist I was treated with courtesy & patience, as my Polish is non-existent. The problem was not rectified & I was upgraded to a superior room at no extra cost.
Breakfast was buffet style & plentyful with scrambled eggs cook fresh.
I was impressed by the service I received & will stay again if I ever return to Krakow.

The rooms were basic but clean. The hotel staff were nice and helpful enough despite their limited English capacity. The hotel itself is located rather far from the city center, but it can be quite easily reached with the 184 bus, which stops directly in front of the hotel. Also, there was a restaurant next to the hotel that serves very tasty Russian pierogi. There's a small market within walking distance, and the mall Bonarka and the supermarket Auchan can be reached by the 184 bus as well.

If you're looking for a simple place to rest your head after long days traversing Krakow, this is a very affordable option. The rooms were relatively spacious and the bedding comfortable. The bathroom could have used a bit of renovation, but efforts have clearly been made to refresh it and it is certainly clean. The building is a bit old, but nothing outside of the norm for a European suburb.
The hotel is outside of walking distance from the city center, but there is a bus right next to the hotel that travels into the city (bus 184). The suburban location allows for quiet nights, and there is a convenience store and some restaurants nearby. The restaurant adjacent to the hotel serves tasty, pretty dishes and has a very interesting and friendly chef.
Finally, the reception at the hotel is quite nice. They are quite willing to answer questions of bewildered tourists and do so with a smile.
If you're looking for luxury, this isn't the right place. However, if you're looking for a simple, comfortable place to rest your head after a busy day in the city, I recommend this hotel!

We stayed here because we were headed to the Salt Mines early the next day. It is a good location for that, but it wasn't anywhere interesting. We went into the local grocery store and we were definitely a novelty attraction to the local people. We stayed in the old part of the hotel because it was SO cheap, but the staff warned us before arrival that it was not in the best shape. I would agree. It was clean, but very worn, and the ensuite bathroom smelled. It was a nice sized room with a big window. Parts of the hotel had been renovated, and the areas I saw that were done were very lovely. The restaurant was very good, and the prices were very reasonable. We had the same waitress for both our meals there and she was a joy. The staff was very helpful, friendly and kind, although their English was very limited. We took the bus from the Krakow airport to the hotel, and it actually very easy to do so, except the bus transfer. On the website it wasn't very clear to our family what to do, however a nice man on the bus helped us out, and he loved practicing his English with us! You do need exact change for the bus, but there was a currency exchange at the airport.
You take bus 292 to Hotel Cracovia. Get off the bus, continue walking in the same direction as the bus is traveling until you get to the corner. Turn right at the corner, and walk to the next bus stop about a half block away. There you catch your next bus. It was easy to find the Malborska stop which is just past Malborska street and walk back to the hotel. The staff helped us with the bus into Krakow, which also was easy to do.

Room Tip: If you want cheap and you are not fussy take the old section of the hotel. Otherwise reserve the re...

Typical old-style "akademik" (college dormitory), sufficient for shorter stay. No kitchen facilities (kettle in a room). Shower and toilet accompany single room.
Quite far from a city centre, Wawel and Old Town. It takes about 15 minutes by bus to get there. On the other hand - the location is good if you want to sleep well. Optima is situated on quiet and not crowdy street.
For one or two night(s) it's OK. If you want to enjoy Kraków as a partying tourist - try something located closer to the Old Town.

Welcome to Warsaw Pact. The door to my room needs to be replaced - the bottom of it is tearing apart. Make your own bed. A pillow almost as big as half of the bed - was I supposed to fold it in half? I've reported a noisy pipe (going off when people next door were washing) - they promised to fix it. The closet hardly opened. The staff however was VERY helpful - they went an extra mile with all my requests. The restaurant was nice - was that where the owner invested all the money? Overall, the hotel is way below the standards of modern Poland, but people are very nice.

I took my severely disabled daughter to meet friends. We stayed at this hotel for 4 days to start with, then returned for another night on way back to Krakow airport. Although I spoke no Polish, and the staff spoke no or little English, we were with Polish friends.
The hotel is basic, clean and very helpful, they alwasy asked if everything was OK, did I need any help etc. The restaraunt, although in process of redecoration and having to move temporarily had really helpful staff and they could not do enough to help my daughter and her needs, nothing was too much trouble.
1 slight critisism, to european standards, the bathroom in our room could have been a bit cleaner, but it was OK
