The room was clean and warm. Staff very friendly and helpful. I did not like was that I had to wash the dishes after breakfast. The walls should be renovated.Breakfast includes: bread, crenwusti, jam, boiled eggs, pate, cheese, milk, coffee and cereals

Booked this trip for myself and my girlfriend and we both were very impressed with this place, which i can say is a lot better than some hotels i have stayed at in Europe. Room and bathroom both very clean. The only disadvantage the place does have is the noise when the window is open, which only was open when we felt the room very warm. Never tried breakfast. On the whole would highly recommend this place for couples, groups of friends etc. given is was less than £10 per night, but not so much for families with young children. We got the bus 292 from the airport, which cost 3,20zl each. Tickets must be bought from the machines at the stop, which does operate in a few languages (i think it is a 30 min ticket that you have to get). Get off at Plac Inwalidow and immediately cross the dual carriageway road at the lights, go straight ahead and Pomorska is the 2nd on the right, very close to the stop. The hostel is about 15 mins walk into the main square by following a straight road. We booked out auschwitz tour through the hostel, which was convenient and easy. On the whole, we both loved Krakow and would visit again to this hostel.

Room Tip: Rear facing rooms have to be quieter, but our front facing room was fine when the window stayed clos...

The hostel was clean and tidy. Breakfast was basic, but ok to start the day. Yes, it can be noisy, but that was up to 10pm. For the price paid I could not complain (I have stayed in many hotels. paid a lot more and the accomodation was a lot worse.) 5 Zloty to hire fresh clean towels and the dark haired lady on the reception was very helpful (thanks). Accomodation not far from the main squares. If you want cheap digs this place is ok.

Room Tip: I suppose the room near the court yard are quieter, but slept ok road side

If you want to relax and sleep at night then don't come here......loud music and very loud people with no control from the receptionist this is what it is cheap and nasty can you blame the hostel for its guests noise YES because the hotel doesn't care I Would suggest you look else we did and found a very nice place for the same price, but that is another story.

Just got back from a 3 night stay here with friends and really enjoyed it.
The rooms were basic as expected but spottlessly clean...good powerful shower. It took us about 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the main square ..plenty of watering holes en route ! We visited the small museum in the basement of the building which was very interesting especially as we had visited auschwitz the day before.
I would recommend the private taxi service that we used on crakow life.com for our airport pick up and trip to auschwitz..they were very reasonable and the driver Domenic was polite and helpful.
Would definitely come back to Krakow and would stay at the Freedom hostel again.

The price you'll pay to stay at the Freedom Hostel is so low that it's hard to justify complaining about anything. It is a hostel after all, not a hotel. We stayed here for three nights in a twin room with an en-suite so what more could you want? Well, a good night's sleep would've been nice. The main problem is the hostel consists of one long corridor (with a badly stained carpet) with the kitchen at the far end. Breakfast starts at 7am and if your room is anywhere near the kitchen (ours was) it's a constant stream of shouting and laughing students and stag weekend lads pounding past your door from very early on. There was also a very odd looking curtain on our window which was basically see-through so as soon as the sun rises the whole room lights up brightly.
The girl on reception was very friendly and told us what trams to get into town and where to go. It could've been worse I suppose. As they say, you get what you pay for.

Be ready to be woken up very early due to the noisy groups of travellers on their way to and from the kitchen, the rooms are basic but had all you need for a nights sleep if you had earplugs.
The staff are friendy and did all they could, breakfast was okay. You would find something to eat and coffee and tea always available.
15 minute walk to the city centre, but you can get the tram outside which is more than reasonably priced. 3 euro for 24 hours and other deals for 24/72 hours. For the price you pay you really couldnt expect eveything to be perfect!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to reception, away from the kitchen.
