if you are going to krakow for a short break freedom hostel is great, and easy to get to from airport, take the 292 or 208 and ask for ,plac inwalidow it will cost you 3zl, you are 2 minutes walk away from Pomorska.Top tip to visit Auschwitz , go to bus station take the bus to oswishim? not sure if this is correct spelling but sounds right, this bus will take you directly to the camp it costs 10 zl a quide will cost you about 36 zl . The hostel is on a busy road with traffic and tram noise, it you are thinking of staying here email the hostel direct and ask for a quite room at the back of the hostel we found them better for a good nights sleep, we had room 21 large enough for a short break with large shower and very clean, if you require a large bath towel these will cost 2.5 zl, a lot of guests prepared their own meals in the kitchen which has 2 rings and a fridge/freezer to keep your drinks and any food that you may need, breakfast is enought to keep you going until lunch, a good place to eat is Bar Smack where you can get a good meal with a large beer for two people for about £10 , You can catch a tram no 4 or 14 to main square and the no 8 will take you to the jewish quarter and the castle the cost is 1.80 zl , the gardens around the main square where very cool and relaxing after walking around the town as when we were there it was about 32 degrees also at this time of the year you can get a downpour and I would take an umberalla next time as we got a bit wet, good lightning though, If there is any information you need ask the hostel reception as we found them to be very helpfull. The hostel price is cheap but excellent value for money would stay again myself if you go enjoy your stay as we did .

Very very good choice it was. Great location, buses to/from airport and Wieliczka salt mine stop 100m from the hotel, Old Town within 10min walking, Kazimierz 20min walk. Very clean room with 2 single beds, 2 bedside tables, large wardrobe and a TV.Nice bathroom, good shower - towels on request for 2,5PLN (50p!) Basic continental breakfast included in the price (cereal, milk, bread, jam, pate, soft cheese, yoghurt, coffee and tea.) Tea and coffee available free in the kitchen 24h, there is also a fridge where you can keep your food. At £16 per night for double room with breakfast and free wi-fi, it was one of the best value for money accomodations we've stayed. Add to it great staff at the reception and Freedom hostel is a budget traveller's wet dream really. Can't fault it! All in all great stay.

I agree with the review written in January.
Too add excellent location for bus and tram services,
Airport bus 292 or 208 drops you at square at end of street.
Mini buses to Auschwitzs pick up there too £4 return and catch pubic bus 304 bright yellow to salt mine £1.
Room very clean! only bad points no aircon and it can be a little noisy with traffic but on the whole excellent place for £140 a week private room ensuite so close to city centre.

This little gem is an amazing hotel right in the middle of Krakow city centre. It's central to the main square, the bus routes, all major shopping areas. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and charming.
From the outside the hotel might not look like much but when you go in, the place is shining. Spotless walls, floors, vending machines for food and drink, smoking areas and free internet access and breakfasts at the end of the hall. A large spacious kitchen with firdge, a buffet and a computer. The rooms are small, but there is plenty of room. A twin room has 'single' beds that are the size of mini doubles, with a window that looks onto the city itself. The bathrooms are big enough, with a large shower, constant boiling water, free TV with music channels and a desk for writing, ironing, whatever. Two sets of drawers for our stuff as well as central heating that can be turned on and off for no extra charge.
The staff are more than helpful, you can book tours, taxis and ask for directions to local places of interest from the reception as well as get money changed and inquire about special deals for restaurants and airport transfers.
All in all it's a fantastic little hotel and I am DEFINITELY coming back!!

This is a great fresh hostel with a central location. It looked brand new! Breakfast was simple, but with own kitchen with fridge you can cook and store your own food. Free luggage storage available before/after check out. Free internet. Friendly and nice English speaking staff.

We came by plane and took airport bus (208 or 292) to right outside hostel.

Short walk to Krakow city centre or tram ride. Also easy to get to Galeria Krakowska and Galeria Kazimirez shopping centre. Nice nightclubs also in walking distance.

Great value!!

My friend and I stayed 3 nights at the freedom hostel. The location was great. The bus from the airport (292) drops one road away from hostel, so very easy indeed! The hostel is on the top floor of a very strange building, please do not let this worry you. In the basement there is a good museum which is free!

For £8 a night the hostel is better than most three star hotels. It was clean, had a TV and provided sheets and towels. Breakfast was included but basic. Bread and jam, small selection of cereal and tea and coffee.

Stayed at Freedom hostel for 3 nights, and was really happy with the whole experience. The 4 flights of stairs before you reach the floor of the hostel is a killer, but works were in progress to install a lift while we were there. Room was compact and basic, but everything we needed. Having the ensuite bathroom makes such a difference. Location is great, 10 minutes walk to the main square down one straight road. Tram stop is just outside hostel, but beware!! If you buy a 24/48/72 hour tram ticket..only stamp it once on your first tram journey. We stamped it each time, and got told off by the (regular) tram ticket inspectors! Heard 'big problem', and nearly cried!!
Krakow is gorgeous, with some great bars and restaurants. Enjoy!
