“Would return if in Krakow again”
Reviewed 9 December 2011

Overall I have no complaints about this place. We just wanted a cheapish apartment for a few days mini-break, that was central, warm and could provide us with the most basic of creature comforts. It certainly did all that. We originally chose Autunno apartments, but when we turned up the lady said there was another one available on the first floor that was free and she thought was better. We had a look and agreed, having that one instead, which was nice of her.

It had two rooms, a nice bathroom, kitchen and living room. It was all clean and well-prepared, the heating was belting out warmth so we were cosy. It was furnished well, with original looking pieces in the bedrooms but modern stuff in the rest, including a whopping great flatscreen in the living room.

The place is about a 5-10 mins walk from the main drag, and so easy to get to from the train/station and shopping center - less than a 10 minute walk, and an easy one at that. There were a few prostitutes hawking their wares up and down on the street but it felt perfectly safe, and there were local shops to buy the basics. If I were to return to Krakow, I'd re-book here.

First of all, the text message asking at what time we would arrive as stated in the booking conditions didn't materialized. Furthermore, I sent an sms before boarding my plane from Malta to ask whom should we meet. Once again, it was not answered.

I and my friends (we were a group of 3 ) arrived at the entrance, but there was no one there. We phoned at the office a number of times, until finally someone answered and said that the room wasn't ready yet, and it would be ready by 1pm.

Finally, at 1 pm someone opened and we were ushered to our apartment. We paid the remaining cost of the accommodation, but strangely she had on change with her. Ok, 5 zloty is no big deal, but to get those zloty 5 days later is quite ridiculous to say the least.

As regards the apartment itself, the kitchen and the bathroom are in perfect conditions and were extremely clear. We had 1 bath towel for everyone of us and 1 hand towel which is ok as well.

The bedrooms furniture is old as shown in the picture in the site. Reasonable good beds, but cupboards should be cleaned once in a while. Also, there is a window in both bedrooms which give on the road and a small balcony in the kitchen.

Furthermore, it is on the 4th floor and there is no lift. The location is good... in 10 minutes or so, you'll be in the Market Square, in 5 you'll be near the Barbican.

As a last note, price is great ... very very cheap !!!! If the service and assistence on arrival is slight better, it would be a fantastic place to stay !!!

The Autunno appartment looked exactly like it does on the website - very spacious with amazing old furniture, warm colours, and finished to a high standard. comfortable double and twin beds with decent quality linen and duvets (rooms have adjoining door). Kitchen reasonably equipped and spacious with a sofa as well as large dining table. Doors open onto small balcony so nice and airy altho view nothing special. Bathroom is small but but has plenty of space for lots of toiletries, and shower has good pressure.
Beware it's on the 4th floor and there's not a lift, but it's more peaceful than lower down and you'll need the exercise to wear off the calories from all the homestyle filling Polish food you'll be eating!
We were given large bath towels but no hand towels so I suggested they might want to think about this.
We were texted to check our time of arrival, and the very friendly & helpful (English speaking!) Polish woman was there to meet us. She was able to recomment bakeries etc for breakfast - not hard to find!
We paid approx £34ppn
I've not added photos because those on the website are accurate

Best thing we did in Krakow was hire bikes for a couple of hours and get out of the purely tourist centre - cycling along the river is a great way to see Wawel Castle.

  • Liked — beautiful bedrooms and proximity to town while not slap bang in centre
  • Disliked — small bathroom
