We recently stayed for 2 nites - good location - within 5-10 mins walk from Old Town and Castle. Food is good and reasonably priced - get to try authentic Polish food at the ground floor restaurant - but view at the rooftop was good - only drawback is packed with dinners as early as 6pm and have to sit inside - devoid of the rooftop view.
Room is a bit small - but quite comfortable- but the WIFI service is good - everywhere in the hotel including the room and toilet - good for people like me who can't live without internet for a day :-)
We requested for a Castle view - but was given van loading view (think is back of supermarket) - should be given a discount
Breakfast spread is not fantastic - but there was a menu for free a la carte - which we are not sure - but the food we ordered from menu was not charged
Overall, think is a good hotel to recommend to friends who as visiting Krakow

We stayed a the Hotel Kossak for three nights and we could not fault anything. The hotel is in an ideal location next to the river and has great views over towards the castle. It is also within short walking distance of krakows attractions. The hotel has a modern contemporary feel which is also reflected in the rooms. Our room, which had lovely views over towards the river and the castle, was very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. There were tea and coffee making facilites and the most reasonably priced mini bar we have ever seen in a hotel. The other features of this hotel that really made it outstanding were its two restaurants. Breakfast in the morning in the Ground floor restaurant had a superb continental choice, with additional cooked items to order, The 7th floor terrance restaurant had wonderful views over the city and over the river towards the castle. The service by the staff was wonderful and very attentive. The food georgeous and again, all at a very reasonable price. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly which overall lead to a fantastic stay at Hotel Kossack. We would definately stay here again.

We traveled to Krakow this June and decided for staying at the Kossak hotel after finding out from the reviews that the hotel and restaurant are recommended in the Michelin Guide 2011.
The hotel is nicely situated with a nice view of the castle. It's a five minutes walk to the central square.
The room was very well equipped and nicely decorated and soundproofed. The only negatives were:
- the fact that the double bed was actually made from 2 side by side single mattresses (granted... very comfortable mattresses) that tended to shift out of your way when you were on the middle of the bed. This was the case in our room... I do not know, if it is the norm for double beds at this hotel or not.
- the room was not particularly big,... rather on the smallish side...
- we've seen better breakfasts at 4 start hotels (though it was a nice touch that you could order pancakes and omelets (however, those were not the same pancakes you got from the hotel's restaurant upstairs )).
All in all, the room was comfortable, the breakfast good, and I would recommend this hotel, if you want to stay close to the center of Krakow. Also, be sure not to miss Cafe Oranzeria (the upstairs restaurant); the food there is amazing.

Only ten minutes easy walking from the Old Town, the Kossak is a lovely hotel.
We were initially allocated a 1st floor room, but when we asked for a room with a view of the castle & river on a higher floor it was changed immediately by the charming young man in reception. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful, best of all, had a sense of humour! The only thing I would suggest is a film channel, in English, on the TV, just for those rainy days!
Rooms and bathrooms are quite spacious, modern & stylish & of course spotless, as is the whole of Krakow. All of the expected equipment is there, tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV etc. But the stunning views of Wawel Castle could be the best thing.
The big surprise at this hotel is the wonderful rooftop terrace where we ate on two occaisions. Very romantic; a place to propose I would say! The food there is international & very good. breakfast is served in the downstair restaurant, where a Polish menu is served in the evening. (Didn't try this, leaving it for another visit)
Eating establishments in the main square look wonderful in the warm evenings, but we found on the whole that food here is generally overpriced & unexceptional. As is usually the case, restaurants in the smaller side streets were much better. However, the square is hard to beat for nursing a beer & people-watching.
Nice Italian food at Tratorria La Campania, in their lovely garden. Suchi just up the street from the hotel, but I would come back just for coffee & applecake. Eating/drinking is about 1 third cheaper than in the UK
The best things : A trip to the saltmine at weilika, with Sebastian as the guide, the trams,
walking to podgrze to the Liban quarry, where the Nazis 'employed ' young polish men in their hellish war work : A strangely beautiful place, now a nature reserve. We couldn't face Auswitch. We did go to the excellent Schlindler museum, also in Podgrze, & the Museum of Krakow is also worth a visit
We checked out quite a few Hotels while walking around, & will certainly come back to Krakow, and to the Kossak.

Friendly, comfortable hotel made great by two excellent restaurants. A drink and then a meal on the roof top terrace over looking the river and castle was a great way to round off the break and good value for money. In other cities you would pay top $$ for this.

Easy walking distance to all the areas of the old town and a supermarket in the same block as the hotel. Been on many European city breaks and for the first time in a long while really really wanted to stay longer.

Room Tip: Upper floors over looking the castle
