“Superb choice.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

I have just returned from Krakow after staying at this hotel sadly for only one night as this was on my way to Slovakia.
This hotel is excellent and the front of house staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I agree with one reviewer that some of the staff particularly at breakfast were a little sour.
We had booked an advanced tour on line with Viator and the tour required the tour confirmation in advance of the tour. I emailed the hotel to ask if they could do this for me as I was unable to do this because the tour was booked for the day of my arrival. They were more than willing to help and answered my email straight away.
We had booked a superior twin room which although was quite small was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Tea and coffee supplied free of charge. The room overlooked the river and the castle which was lit up in the evening.
We also went for a meal in the upper part of the hotel which had an outdoor terrace and was fantastic and not expensive.

Would use this hotel again and I have given it full marks in spite of the minor negative issues.

Room Tip: See full review. Despite being on the main road the superior room on floor 5 was very quiet.

This is a modern decor hotel, but with a cozy feeling. Rooms were spotless, fitness facilities superb, restaurant very good for breakfast buffet and service with a smile. We needed a converter to charge our phones, etc and this was available at no charge for our use.
I was impressed.

Just returned from an amazing 2 days in Krakow.
Hotel was excellent. They contacted us a few days before our trip to arrange taxi transfer from airport, which was much appreciated and upon arrival we where given the option to upgrade to a suite...which we accepted and was perfect, fabulous view of the castle.
We really cannot fault the hotel and staff and would like to thank them all for an enjoyable trip.

My wife and I have just come back from a three night stay at the Kossak and would describe the hotel as 'punching above its weight'. The rooms are well appointed, the hotel is well decorated throughout, the roof terrace is lovely, the food is of a good standard and the staff were mostly pleasant.
on the negative side, the entrance is on the side of the building and looks out onto an unpleasant vista of parked cars and unkempt buildings, a small number of the staff are unsmiling to the point of rudeness and most importantly from our perspective, when you book a superior room (as we did) you will be given a very small room which overlooks the river and the castle. This is the only hotel I have come across which describes its rooms as superior because of a view rather than the size and facilities on offer. The room was too small for us (see other reviews) and so we opted for a standard room which was absolutely fine, although being on the inside of the building had a less than pleasant view of some tenement buildings. The receptionist's attitude was that we had prepaid so she was not prepared to compensate us in any way - extraordinary approach to customer service!

Room Tip: Don't pay for a superior room if you want a reasonably sized room.

Kossak is located near the castle and within reasonable walking distance from the main square. Conveniently situated also near the bus stop for the airport bus. Majority of the tour buses leave just next door from the Sheraton parking lot.

Some of the rooms have great views to the river/castle. Rooms are nicely appointed and everything was in order. Hotel offers a reasonably fast WiFi for free. Beds are a bit too hard for my liking. Rooms are somewhat on the smaller side. Bathrooms are of good size and include a bathtub.

Breakfast buffet was fine; plenty of variety and mostly of good quality. Omelettes and pancakes can be ordered without extra cost, but coffees from espresso machines cost extra.

The personnel is very helpful and friendly, maybe slightly lacking mandate to handle all things they come across. We had an unpleasant issue during our 1st night, but the case was dealt professionally by the manager and to our satisfaction next morning.

Hotel is worth the price and could stay there again.

Room Tip: Upper floor roomss with a view towards the river/castle.

We stayed at the Kossak for 4 nights. Good location, about a 12 minute walk to the main market square. Rooms are adequate and very clean. Terrific view from the roof terrace. Hotel staff are friendly, helpful and very accommodating. On the whole, it's difficult to find fault. We would happily stay there again.

This is a nice hotel located a short walk from the old part of town. It is also located close to a tram stop. Note that the tram ticket machine is not located near the tram stops. It is next to stairs that go under the road on the far side of the grocery store hiding behind a vegetable stand. For tram/bus info check http://krakow.jakdojade.pl/ because the people at the desk seem more interested in pushing you to a tour or taxi service. There is a money exchange in a hut next to the hotel, the rates are not good. Go another 50m and there is money exchange place in a real building with better rates. Shop around for good rates.

The hotel is nice and clean. The staff is helpful. The neighborhood seems very safe. Good location near to the old section of Krakow. It is a very easy walk for anybody without health conditions. Not sure about the interior decorator. The horse lamp was a little odd. The breakfast buffet is very good in my opinion. Any buffet that includes smoked salmon and bacon is a winner for me. They also had that healthy stuff. Now if you are planning on using the little free hotel lotions forget it. They have come up with the perfect way to keep guest from using them. The lotion is in a square plastic bottle that can not be squeezed and is to thick to flow out of the bottle. Deviously clever. Very poor selection of TV channels but then I didn't travel thousands of miles to watch TV. They do have WiFi but it got very slow at times. Stay away from the hotel laundry. it was about $10 per item. For that price I could have had clean clothes shipped to me. The pillows were also a little weird for us. It was either a little square pillow or a big square pillow the did scrunch into the shape I like.
We also found out that there was an additional room tax that was not included in our pre-paid room booking. It wasn't very much but I don't like those little surprises.

Room Tip: The cheap rooms face the alley. You have to pay extra for a room with a view of the castle.
