We recently stayed at the Globus Hotel in Krakow. We picked as one of the best options for a good quality, value for money Hotel as a last minute booking. We'd read a few more reviews and asked for a High Floor to the rear of the Hotel. We'd read that the Front was noisy, which we could well imagine having stayed there! The Hotel is on a corner of the Main crossing for the Trams. Trams going to and coming from every direction converge just across the road,so it's very busy outside. It was strange, even on the top floor to feel the vibrations when they passed! And we had to take the cups out of their saucers to stop them chinking together...Having said that,we were out all day and the Trams had always stopped by the time we got back to the room and started again about 5.30ish in the morning...Those with any disability should take into consideration that there are no lifts in the Hotel..It's location was excellent though.Across the road and 10 mins later you were in the Market Square..10 minutes the other way and you were in the Jewish Quarter. We walked everywhere no problem. The taxi driver from the Airport offered the Aushwitz trip for 400 PLN (zloty's) but with the help of the staff we did it ourselves on the Local Bus for 120PLN!! We were only 15/20 mins from the main Railway Station and Bus Station. We just turned up at D8 Bus Stop, paid 10 PLN's each and sat back an enjoyed the scenery on the 1hr and 15min trip. The taxi driver tried to say that it would be best to go by taxi because the other camp (Aushwitz 2 -Birkenau) was another bus ride away. But you've got to pay for an interpreter guide(unless you get there before 10am or after 3pm- when you are free to walk around at your leisure) and ours was fantastic with the tour and a Free Shuttle Bus waits right outside the starting point to take you there and back. So be a tourist and do it yourselves!! Everybody we came across was always very helpul and friendly. The same can be said of the staff at the Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble whether it was getting the weather up for us or Bus/Train timetables. Don't use the Train to Aushwitz as it stops in the actual town and no where near the entrance to the 'Museum' as it's called. The staff at Globus gave us loads of maps and we even walked to the Ghetto's and Shindlers factory following them. Everything is very cheap. We ate everywhere from 'Top Restaurants' to 'Kutchnia Doroty' and was very surprised by how reasonable both charged. In the Kutchnia we had soup, 2 Beef Stroganoff's,2 Beers all for 48 PLN's....That's less than £12!! Our room was very clean but dated..a pity really as the bathroom (shower only) had been upgraded and was lovely. Good hot powerful shower too. I think a feature wall and some new lamps would make such a difference. We had a nice closet area,so no case/bags hanging around. And for some reason I had a chair instead of a bedside table?
Buffet breakfast was excellent. Fresh hams, cheeses, cereals, eggs, breads, yoghurts and jams etc. There was a little toaster and fresh brewed coffee. And the day we left it was too early for breakfast so the Hotel made us up a Breakfast box, which had everything in it except the coffee! So,a good budget hotel in a good location!!

Room Tip: Stay for location and price. No lifts. Friendly helpful staff.

Although this hotel is on the small side (16 rooms) it really made us feel we got more of a personal service from the staff. They all spoke excellent English and were always smiling and only too happy to help with any enquiries. They organised tours for us and also gathered information for us on how to do independant tours, where to get buses, trams, trains etc and how much. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean and our bedroom had the most comfortable bed and was quite roomy with complimentary bottled water brought every day. The breakfast was different to the type of breakfast we are used to, but nevertheless, was fresh and really tasty. Its situated on a very busy, main intersection so if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back of the hotel, where it's much quieter, but the noise of the trams (they start at 4am) is to be expected on a city break. There is no lift in this hotel, so if you're not as fit as some people, make sure you ask for a room on the 1st floor as we were on the 3rd, so it was a bit of a struggle with our cases, but has not put us off going again and we will definitely be recommending this hotel to our friends. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the main square, 5 mins walk from the Jewish quarter, 10 mins from the castle and about the same distance from the train station. We found it impossible to get lost and hard to run out of things to do and see. Krakow is a beautiful city and so cheap and really good value when eating out in the many restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the Hotel if you're a light sleeper, and if you struggle with stai...

We booked a party of five into two rooms for three nights, whilst we did the touristy things around the city. The rooms were exactly as expected, very clean, large and equipped with TV, and tea/coffee facilities. One of the rooms 305 was air conditioned other, 201 was not, but not a problem at this time of year. The girls at the front desk (staff were always more than helpful, smiling, welcoming) were very helpful when asked for milk and other items to replenish the stock in the room. The Hotel has very little communal area, but the bedrooms were big enough so that we could all get round to enjoy Pizzas & drinks. The trams operate on a very busy intersection and with all the other traffic, be prepared to either take the alcohol or earplugs, even though good double glazing on all windows. Beds and bedding was 100%.Location is ideal, trams go in several directions zl 2.80 for 30 mins, (we took the tram to walk around Plazow camp area, then walked back) tickets either from the stops, some machines on the trams & buses, and we understand drivers sometimes take money if no machines onboard (change is given by the machines and they can produce multiple tickets in one cash transaction). 15 mins walk to the main square, 20 mins to main station, about 35 mins when we went to Schindlers museum and then walked around the Ghetto area. Location for all this walking was brilliant. Breakfast was a fairly good array with something to suit everyone (seen better, seen a lot worse), but for the money the hotel was really good value, and would have no issues about recommending my friends to go there (the rumbling trams add atmosphere, but not solitude). We did all the trips independantly with no regrets. Wieliczka Salt Mine was a wonderful trip, travel there by public MIni Bus, and return by normal bus. Auschwitz day - travel was by train, which went at snails pace most of the time (two hour journey back), then 30 mins walk to the camp from the station at Oswiecem. Whole experience was well worth the visit, cheaper than we had expected, with restaurants being very good value compared to UK.

Eventually found this address on the corner (next to Allianz bank) Globus sign is on the glass door.

Good standard and clean, kettle, tea, bottled water in the room (don't drink the tap water) TV, free shampoo/soap daily, shower head holder was loose though, we forgot to report this ! No coffee and milk, just ask reception and they'll bring it up for you, free internet/wi-fi but connection at the front of the building is poor/non existent, staff were helpful.

Breakfast was adequate, cold ham, chicken, sliced bread, cottage cheese, cereals, fruit coffee, orange/apple juice etc.

Strange smell of cooking cabbage outside window, trams audible despite UPVC windows closed, ground rumbled each time one passed too, not that bad though once you climatised.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms at the rear. Helpful breakfast staff will let you take some b'fast up to the room...

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend for three nights.

The Perks: The hotel was generally clean. The bathroom was modern and there was enough room for three adults and a child under 7 to sleep. There was free bottled water supplied in the room which was nice. The customer service was excellent. All of our questions were answered.

Drawbacks: I was travelling with my 60+ year old mother. She did NOT appreciate that there was not an elevator in this hotel. We had to carry up bags up to the room and walk up to our room every time we returned. We were also staying in the hotel in August when the temperature was very warm. This hotel has no air conditioning. It could be noisy in the evening, as this hotel is located at a busy intersection. I didn't mind because I'm used to noise in the evening, but my mother, who is a light sleeper, did not sleep well during our entire trip. The breakfast for the hotel was very average. I wish there had been more options. The room was generally clean, but there was a very large stain on one of the curtains in our room. The curtains are white, but there was a stain that could have possibly been blood(!) on it. At least it was the color of dried blood. I don't know how a maid could miss it to be honest!

Would I stay here again? Maybe. If it were in the summer? No.

We stayed here for two nights in May whilst it was lovely and hot. The hotel is located smack bang between the jewish quarter and the square with the tram stop virtually outside your door which will take you all over the city. It was a 10 minute walk to the square and a 10 minute walk in the other direction to the jewish quarter so no need for taxis. There was a bank machine right outside the hotel and a little shop just around the corner so you could buy pop snacks etc. The room was very clean, quiet and spacious although all we really did was sleep there. Although we did not organise any tours with them they were always very helpful and saw lots of people asking them to organise trips. The breakfast in the morning was great, coffee, juice, meats cheese, yoghurts fruit etc - just what you need after a hard night out to set you up for the day. If I visited Krakow again I would most definately stay at this hotel. It was a bargain for the price too only 79 euros a night.
