“Great Garden Inn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2011

Just like most HGIs everywhere. Clean, new, helpful staff, restaurant (free breakfast). Rooms are average sized with lots of walnut. The only issue is that it is a $15 cab ride from the old section and train station, and not near the conter of town. It is on a small highway that runs along the river across from Krakow. There are busses and trams (fare less than $1 for a ticket) appx 500 yards from the hotel, so we quickly learned to take the bus rather than cabs. We had dinner there one night..quite nice (hamberger etc), and free breakfast was plentiful and very good. Hotel offers free internet in the rooms, which is VERY UNUSUAL for Europe. Beds were supposedly adjustable, but I must not have been able to figure it out! Bathroom large new and spotless

Having travelled the world and stayed many places - this is close to being my least favourite. We planned a family trip with my inlaws who are Polish- the world should have been our oyster! The best place in the hotel (when the food was hot and as ordered) was the restaurant to the right of reception. Typical day: Breakfast - Order an egg from the 'made to order' chef and wait all day - ours never came! Business Centre - Free printing (no ink and staff were none the wiser). No maps to hand - find your way around town! Back to restaurant for dinner - Recommend Duck dish and Pork Tenderloin (risotto crunchy, uncooked and unseasoned). Bedtime - Cold, Cold Cold - unadjustable air con (we are home now with the flu) ALSO if you like films look no further than 'previews'. The film channel offers endless new and old films - order one for 50PLN and you will receive a message ' this film is unavailable'. Brilliant! At about 2am awake to the sounds of a drunk polish traveller screaming up and down the corridor (including unsitely push ups in the corridor half naked). This happened each of the 3 nights we stayed! I have never looked more forward to my own home in UK. 4 years ago we stayed in a 3 star and this was unbelievably better quality for less money - They offered virutally the same thing. Do yourself a favour - this place is too far from the town centre!!

Had a weekend trip with my son to Krakow to visit Auschwitz. Chose the Hilton due to reputation and it didn't disappoint. A new hotel offered great friendly check in ( at 2 am) and the breakfast was fab - my son loved the make your own waffles! Rooms were lovely and clean and very new. Hotel was very quiet and the reception were very helpful in pointing out how to get to the old town and where to eat. Recommend to anyone.

Located outside the city center, 15 min stroll to the old palace and cathedral, 30 min to old town square.

Rooms are regular, clean, mini bar was empty

You can run near the river, just cross the bridge and you have at least a 5km path with people running or rollerscating.

Breakfast is ok. Free wifi, though I had trouble connecting it.

As it was near my company Polish branch it was a good option. But if you travel to Krakow for visiting the city might be worthy staying in the city center. Go and have lunch or dinner at Szara in old town square. A bit expensive, but the best restaurant in Krakow.

Dear,

thank you very much for time spend on writing us review,
We hope when you are visiting your company offices you will still stay with us , althgough we understand when someone is strictly on leisure stay may consider more market square hotel locations.
As fas as mini bar is concerend - Hilton Garden Inn as a brand have mini-fridges ( instead of mini-bar) which can be filled in with items you buy in our Pavilion Pantry smart shop located opposite reception desk at reasonable prices.

Hope to see you again
best regards

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2011

I have just returned from a 3-night stay in Krakow. Stayed the first and the last night at HGI Krakow.

I really enjoy staying at Hilton hotels and the HGI Krakow was no exception. The HGI Krakow really lives up the slogans presented in the infomercial displayed on the tv; "Sleep deep", "Eat well", "Stay fit", "Work smart" and "Treat yourself".

The breakfast was very good and are served from 0630 - 1000 from Monday to Friday and until 1100 in the weekend. The hotel offers a wide selection of items and beverages. They even provide a "cooked-to-order"-option (for example omelets, fried eggs and pancakes). The price for the breakfast is 39 pln/10 euros.

I also ate at the restaurant. Great service and nice interior/decoration. The Mobley Burger, named after the very first Hilton Hotel, was extremely good and a bargain at only 32 zloty. A soft drink cost 7 zloty in the restaurant and a homemade cheesecake only 14 zloty. The "Soup of the day" only costs 10 zloty.

A nice touch was the "Pavilion Pantry" open 24/7. In the "Pavilion Pantry" you can buy very reasonably priced items and fill up the refrigerator in your room. Only 5 zloty for a soft drink and 2,50 zloty for a small bag of chips. You can also buy microwaveable meals for a low price and use the microwave in the "microwave-room" located near the reception.

I must say that I prefer the "Pavilion Pantry"-option instead of the over-priced items from minibars you find at other hotels.

Another nice touch is complimentary wireless internet access throughout the whole hotel. Log on with you room-number and surname. Use your own computer or one of the computers in the complimentary 24/7 business center. In the business center you can find a combined printer, copier and fax machine. The internet connection was very reliable and fast.

For the people who likes to stay fit the hotel offers complimentary access to a fitness centre, "Fitness By Precor". The gym is located on the -1 level (open from 5am to 11pm).

The hotel, with 154 guest-rooms (7 junior suites), is located on the banks of the Wisla river. I had no problems with the location and it took me about 20 minutes to walk to the Wawel Castle. From the castle it took about 10 minutes to walk to the Old Market Square. It is about 300 meters to the nearest tram and bus stop. Taxies are very cheap in Krakow and I paid about 15 zloty (tip included) for a 3 km trip.

The sleep quality was excellent due to the adjustable "Garden Sleep System"-bed. Just turn the knob on the mattress and choose how firm or soft you want your bed. The room also features a large work desk with an ergonomic "Mirra chair" by Herman Miller. In the room you also can find a 32 inch Samsung LCD tv, safe, refrigerator, tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Some of the rooms have a walk-in shower (for example room 610) and other rooms have a bathtub (for example room 410).

All of the rooms have easy to adjust air-condition.

Very fine toiletries from Neutrogena (mouthwash, soap-bar, body-wash, conditioner, shampoo and body lotion).

If you need to do some laundry during your stay there is a self-laundry (washer and dryer) available free of charge. You can buy powder in the "Pavilion Pantry". The washer and dryer can be found on the 3rd and 6th guest-floor (next to room 325 and 625). Ice-dispenser and water-cooler on the same location.

All of the rooms with even room-numbers are located at the front of the hotel and have view to the river and the Wawel Castle. Even though there is a large motorway right in front of the hotel you will hear no traffic noise due to great insulation.

The staff members was exceptionally friendly and service-minded. I had no problems when I asked for a late check-out and was granted late check-out (2 pm).

If you would like an extra nice room opt for the upgrade to a junior suite, only 160 zloty.

I´m looking forward to my next stay at this hotel. They made my days in Krakow even more fantastic than I could ever dream of. Thank you very much and I wish you the best for the future.

We had our annual conference here at the Hilton Park. We were the first guests to stay here. The hotel is very modern with good facilities. The staff were incredibly friendly with nothing being any trouble. We arrived during the evening and the food that was laid on was incredible. As it was our conference even though the bar hours were until midnight, the bar stayed up with us. The rooms were spot on with uniquely designed beds that offer incredible comfort. The conferencing facilities again were terrific, offering all the technology a modern hotel can give.
The last day of our visit the whole group visited the Auscwitz museum, the hotel even provided everyone with a packed lunch.
The hotel is situated approximately 20 minutes walk from the town centre.

Stayed at this hotel on a work conference. We were some of the first guests to stay as only just opened. The hotel is lovely, rooms are very comfortable with extra comfy beds and is about a 20 minute walk to the square.
The staff were very pleasant and kept the bar open way past the offical closing time. The food was good and we ate in the hard rock cafe in the evening which was also good but portions were far to big! Would definitely stay again at the Hilton and see more of Krakow.
