“On Market Square”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2012

We really liked the location on the square and couldn't see any disadvantages. This is where the activity is in Krakow and there are plenty of choices for eating. Our efficiency apartment (21 or 22?) was pleasant and quiet but relatively small. It was furnished with Ikea-type furnishings. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have free internet access. They do not offer laundry service but they were gracious enough to let us use a clothes washer without charge (you will need to use a drying rack-no dryers).

Room Tip: Rooms facing the square can be accessed by elevator. Those away from the square are walkups. We sa...

We stayed for one night. It was perfect right downtown so we were able to pick from variety of restaurants as well as see main tourist attractions within very short period of time. Studio we stayed in was quite clean (except for towels - didn't really liked them). The receptionist girl was very friendly. We were able to enjoy authentic tiny balcony that would lead to the door of our room. There was no lift though, so we had to climb 3 floor. I'd imagine for people with big luggage that could be annoying.

Our room at Venetian House (number 15) was exceedingly spacious and immaculate with simple, modern design. The room was situated within a larger residential apartment building off of the main square, Rynek Główny. The beds and duvets were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. There was no safe for personal belongings but they did supply an iron, ironing board, hair dryer and kitchen essentials.

We were disappointed to find that our room did not have a view of the square (although it appeared to on the website) and instead faced another building. On our second morning (a Monday) there was considerable noise from nearby apartments as people prepared for their workday. Light sleepers would have difficulty with the sounds of showers, kitchen noise and footsteps (it sounded as if it was coming from inside our apartment). I would note that people with accessibility issues would struggle with the staircase as this apartment was located on the 5th floor with over 200 stairs and no lift. This is a great location to explore Kraków and given the price we paid, we were pleased with our room and the location. Cite the Trip Advisor code and they will include a free bottle of wine on arrival.

Room Tip: If you would like a room overlooking Rynek Główny, ensure you confirm this when booking. Those will...

Dear Guest,

thank you for your review and we are glad you have enjoyed your stay in Krakow and in our apartment.

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed because there was no view of the square. We would like to remind guests booking with us that we always try to clearly describe what we sell. Therefore please note that in case of V15, no matter if booked directly via our website or via Booking.com, there is no information about the Square view. In case of other apartments that have got a view, it is mentioned in description.

The description of V15 apartment says:

"Venetian 15 apartment is a stylishly designed one bedroom apartment located in the rear of the Venetian house building facing a tranquil courtyard"

With regards to the apartment being located on 5th floor with no lift access, we also make sure that is clearly described on our website:

"Please also note that this studio is located on the 4th floor without a lift and therefore may not be suitable for limited mobility."

For people interested in Krakow's Main Square view we recommend apartments V1,2,4,7,8,9,11 and 12 which are our best apartments due to the view and the fact they are located in front of the building with lift access. All information about our apartments, lift access, view or other services can be found on our website. We also invite you to use our life chat if you may have any questions about a property you would like to book.

We also remind our guests that the 'bottle of wine coupon' is valid while booking directly via our hotel website. It is not valid while booking via Booking.com

Once again, thank you for staying with us and I hope next time you will have a chance to visit our apartments located in the front of Venetian House.

best regards

We stayed in room 11 for 4 nights. It had sleeping for 4 adults and an elevator for my wife's 80 year old grandmother. We only had our room on the floor and it was great. The views wore nice and relaxing and we heard nothing. The beds were comfortable and the whole apartment was clean and had everything if you wanted to stay in for some reason. The front door is to the center with hundreds of options for food and entertainment.

Venetian House is located right in the center of it all in Krakow! Right on the corner of the square across from St. Adalbert's Church where many tours depart from. Our 'room' was an apartment...basically 3 rooms, one room had a kitchen, breakfast table, and sofa (which becomes a single bed), a bathroom, and a large bedroom that also had a sofa (which becomes a single bed). So we easily slept 4 here & had plenty of space for our 'stuff'. It would be easy to make an extended stay in such a large amount of space. Everything was clean, bright, updated...and the location made it absolute perfection! The staff was incredibly friendly & helpful...and prior to our arrival gave us a contact where we could arrange all of our tours & airport transfers with one company, which was very reasonably priced & incredibly helpful as well.

There really wasn't anything to 'not like' here. The only thing to be noted to some visitors is that the back part of the property where we stayed does not have an elevator...our room was on the top floor, which was more than 100 steps up. This wasn't a problem for us at all & it was actually nice because you don't have everyone passing your room in the middle of the night, so it's quieter! (evidently Krakow has a big nightlife scene!)

What we liked about Krakow:
We were surprised to find that Poland was such a beautiful country & Krakow a beautiful city! We would love to go back & we don't say that about many places...and we can't figure out if we like Krakow or Prague better! It was just an amazingly beautiful, clean, well-preserved city!

We would advise against booking two walking tours in a day (which is what we did!) If you are really interested in the details of the Jewish Quarter, take the Jewish Quarter/Schindler tour...which lasts 3 hours, but doesn't go into the Schindler factory. Ideally, you'd take this tour & then go to the factory at its conclusion, this would take you a full day.

In the afternoon we took the old town walking tour, which was also a nice tour, but you could easily self-guide this, but you wouldn't get the fantastic historical stories & our guide, Jack, was a great story-teller! Again, you would ideally take this as 3 hours of part of one day & not lump it with another walking tour...it does not enter the palace, so taking it in the morning & touring the palace afterwards on your own would be better.

We'd like to go back for the Salt Mine tour, which everyone highly recommended! And of course, there's also Auschwitz...both of these take at least 5 hours to tour.

So a weekend is probably too short in Krakow! 3-4 full days would work very well & you won't regret the additional time you have to spend in this beautiful European city! (and it won't cost you an arm & a leg like most of Europe..we found our room, food, souvenirs, everything to be incredibly inexpensive...hand carved wood chess sets for 20-40$ & amber jewelry everywhere at a fraction of the cost you pay in Russia!) And of course there's polish sausage & the dumplings...don't miss them!

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor of the apartment section...no elevator, over 100 steps, but it sure was q...

Very well situated in krakow. Staff very helpful. Very comfortable beds. Used the kitchen a lot. Price reasonable. There was a bit noise from outside but when the windows where closed it was fine. The only fault we found was the quality of the soap and shampoo. Could be a bit more luxurious, and so could be the towels. This is a minor fault. Only for the staff to make this place perfect. It doesn't effect our perfect satisfaction.

Room Tip: Rooms with view to the market square.

Recently returned from a 5 night stay here - what lovely apartments! Everything you need for self catering, a very comfortable bed and a perfect locatiion, right on the main square. It is noisy when you open the windows but the insulation is very good and we didn't hear any noise from the restaurants or people milling about below us.
Reception staff were very helpful - they booked us a trip to Auschwitz which was great value for money with an excellent tour guide - and were otherwise friendly and helpful.
The cable TV didn't seem to be working very well but we didn't bother asking for any help - who wants to be in watching TV when there's so much to see and do outside?
Thoroughly recommended, spotlessly clean too.
