“Kracking Krakow!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2013

Yet another very successful European city break with my daughter. We visited Krakow and stayed at this hotel in November 2012. This city was vibrant and fun and picturesque whilst being seeped in history and culture. We visited the Jewish Quater and Synagogues, and Wavel Castle...all these sights were interesting and architecturely beautiful and best of all, free! Whist in Krakow we also invested in the Autschwitz tour which we have to say was mind blowing! interesting and a very humbling experience and should be compulsory for anyone that visits. The town market square is full of places to shop and eat and drink and be merry! Our favourite bar and restuarant being Piano Rouge which by the way serves the best mulled wine ive ever tasted!! This bar is truely unique in its decor and resembles sumthing akin to a 1930s caberet bar, not forgetting how delicious the food is! Last but not least the Hotel Maksymilian! This is ideally situated right in the centre of the city. The rooms are spacious, clean, well decorated and warm, most comfortable beds possibly ever slept in and unusually for a Euorpean city the tea and coffee supplies are a welcome addition to the room with a plentiful supply (bottles of water also provided free, daily). The bathroom was a nice size with a lovely hot poweful shower. Within the hotel is the option to have a beauty treatment. We both had a hot stones massage which was an hour long, extremlely relaxing and only around the same as £15 about a quarter of the price you would pay in England! The easiest and cheapest way (about 70 pence) to get to and fro the hotel and the airport is to catch the bus number 292 or 208. At the airport you will see the bus as soon as you step out to the right of the taxi rank and from the hotel you just need to come on to the main road when you step out of the hotel, go left and walk to the top of the road where there is a busy four way crossing, go straight over and the first bus stop you come to on your left is the one you need. The buses are very regular so no need to worry about missing your flight! We must say the one and only negative to the whole trip was the very moody ignorant attitude of the bus driver to take us from the airport to the hotel, it was obvious we were trying to ask him questions bearing in mind it was our first visit and he just ignored us! But please dont let that put you off as our return bus journey was fine and it is so cheap and convienient bearing in mind its about a 30 minute journey. Also he is a rareity as every other person we met in the city was extremely friendly.

Close to main areas of interest (5minutes walk from main square), we were in room 54 which was a light fairly spacious room. Glad of the radiator in the room and noticed air conditioning unit which is a must for the summer months. There was always plenty of hot water for the shower but one draw back was the on/off handle for the water which was also the temperature control was easily knocked whilst showering, roasted myself a couple of times. Tea and coffee facilities and bottled water in the room was an unexpected surprise. The kettle cord didn't reach the socket so we had to keep moving the kettle to and fro the bedside table to boil it. Breakfast was good with a fair selection and the fact they didn't offer the typical english fry up appealed to me. Cereal, yoghurt, scrambled eggs, polish sausage, cheese and meat platter etc. Overall very adequate for a short stay in a great location. Would stay again.

This hotel is about ten minutes walk from the historical centre of Krakow. The rooms are quiet, clean and cosy and do not face onto the main road. They are equipped with tea and coffee making facilities as well as hairdryers. The receptionists are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are good. I thoroughly recommend this hotel, although the coffee at breakfast is always lukewarm!!!

It is cheaper if you book any excursions in an agency in the city, rather than at the hotel reception.

Room Tip: Just ask for a quiet room to be assured of one

On arrival to our room 46, we found it spacious, clean, modern bathroom with shower and hair dryer and patio doors on both rooms which looked out into the court yard. They room was at a lovely temperature as outside was freezing, they even had air conditioning for the summer. Tea and coffee maker and also to our surprise we had complimentary bottles of water.

Clean white towels and comfortable beds. Didn't like the way they fold our blanket each day after making our beds. As each nights had to open up blanket . Also a bin in the bedroom would convient.
Safety deposit box in room needed new battery but was fixed in no time by maintenance man.

Free WiFi in rooms. Also a water fountain in lobby which was great after a long day.

Would recommend the massage service in hotel as it is not expensive and very relaxing after a day out sight seeing.

Staff were very friendly and informative. Gave us a map and even went the extra mile to look on internet to let us know what tram numbers to take.

Breakfast was adequate. Cereals, different breads, rolls, ham, cheeses, olives, yoghurt, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, sausages with onion, plain sausages, tea, coffee etc.

Trams are just outside with a 2 minute walk to tram stop. Only thing was ticket booth across the road, remember from nearest stop.

Excursions can be booked from hotel but we located a tourist information office in market square where it is less expensive and collected you from your hotel. She recommended some nice places places to eat and try the bagel stalls.

They only thing I was dissapointed was one night room 47 next door, we had very loud neighbors who talked till 5am. Just as well they only stayed one night. Rang reception and they informed them to be quiet.

Overall, we had a great holiday. Will be back in Poland.

Rooms basic but more than adequate! Tea and coffee in rooms, nice bathroom and plenty of heating and hot water! Tv in room and a hair dryer in bathroom! Room quiet no probs with noise from corridor or other people but a bit of tram noise from the street, but it never woke us!

Breakfast very tasty, fried polish sausage and scrambled eggs, nice bread cheese and ham etc! Sometimes a bit of a wait for a table in the morning as the restaurant is quite small but it was only ever 5 mins!

Staff all friendly and helpful, booking tours through them nice and easy and they stored our bags for us after we had checked out! Bar ladies really nice downstairs, bar is a bit odd but a nice place to chat with other guests and drinks very reasonable!

People in previous reviews have said 15 mins walk into town but it only really took us just over 5, really couldn't fault location atall!

Would happily stay here again!

Used this hotel as our base for a three night stay. Totally refurbished within the last couple of years this is a very comfortable hotel. Room was compact but had everything you needed and was warm, clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast was adequate and the hotel also has a small bar. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is a fifteen minute stroll from the Old Town. The tram stop is a two minute walk from the hotel front door, from where you can travel all over the city.

We recently spent a 4 day break in Krakow staying a this hotel.
We were disappointed with our room,22,which was very pokey. The bed was actually built into a corner.Good refurbished en suite.
Corridors were extremely noisy at night. We actually got up the first night as we though the door was open.It was impossible to walk up the stairs without disturbing people.Couldnt see any reason why it should be so noisy.
Staff excellent, breakfast fine, location good room was only disappointment&with hindsight we should have complained& given management the chance to rectify problem.

Room Tip: Room 22 very disappointing

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind comment on Trip Advisor. I am glad that you liked our hotel. Sorry for the impression of "small room and noisy corridor". I will share your impression with the owner of the hotel to put some carpeting on the stairs to avoid the noise.
Great that you have such a good opinion about our staff. We really appreciate that.

Hoping to welcome you at the Maksymilian Hotel again I am sending you my best regards,
