“Awful food and very expensive”
Reviewed 26 November 2011

I would not eat at this restaurant if they paid me! A restaurant that is pretending to be a fine one, but has a LONG way to go. Firstly, BAD FOOD! Although the menu sounded interesting -- game meats -- something different and very Polish, our meals were badly made. My duck had very little meat but lots of blubbery skin. Served with frozen-style potato wedges. Fine food? Our other meal was the wild boar, not good, also served with a differently-cut fry! Awful food at high prices for Krakow. Secondly, the restaurant interior is not wonderful either. It's going for a wine celler look - done at a low budget and no attention to detail. We were not impressed and would not return. Would say much more!

“Excellent food, less excellent service”
Reviewed 4 November 2011

The food at the Maksymilian Restaurant is really excellent and the atmosphere is cosy and charming. Unfortunately, the restaurant staff is rather careless and inconsiderate. I was travelling on business and needed two separate bills (one for the meal and one for the wine) for accountancy reasons, and though I had clearly anticipated this need of mine to the waitress before ordering the meal, she well and truly forgot it and produced only one bill. In spite of my protests the restaurant’s manager was adamant in refusing to write it off and replace it with two separate ones, and he even refused to produce two “informal” receipts (i.e., two slips of paper bearing the restaurant stamp on them and showing the two separate amounts) to be attached to the cumulative bill (that would have solved the problem). Those who travel on business and have similar needs be warned.
