As much as I am one to usually pick every tiny fault out of a hotel, this one was flawless. We were expecting to be in the budget version next door, but arrived and found we had been upgraded. The entire hotel is spotless - very clean and tidy. It is in a great location, being situated about a ten minute walk from the Old Square; thus it's not too far to walk (and there are things to see en route), but also not right in the centre of a busy, noisy city.

My only bugbear is that it is opposite the main train terminal, which most of the time is silent. However, when a large train comes in at 3am, it is announced loudly over the tannoy (you can't hear this if your window is closed, however). The announcements only last about 5 seconds, and if you're there for sightseeing purposes, it's not an issue. However there did seem to be a lot of people in the hotel on business, which I'm guessing could be quite annoying if you have something really important to get up for the next morning. Not the hotel's fault, just mentioning that if you really need a good nights sleep, request a north facing room.

Arrived at the Ibis on Tuesday to be greeted by the receptionist who spoke good English and was very helpful - we were asked if we wanted a smoking or non smoking room which was helpful! Every area of the hotel is clean, tidy & well maintained. Our room was also spotless, with a nice bathroom and excellent sized shower (I've seen much worse in more expensive hotels!)...pillows are small and thin, but the housekeeper was happy to deliver some more to our room with no hassle at all. We ate in the hotels own restaurant 'Oopen' on the first night, we both had a 'build your own' pasta dish which was a nice touch and well cooked etc. Drinks are a little more expensive than the shops but what do you expect for a hotel bar. The hotel is literally across the road from a big shopping centre, which has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hotel provided us with maps of the city with directions to the old town, old market square, Jewish quarter etc and we found these extremely useful although it is only a short & easy walk to the major sites. We are really impressed with this hotel & would definitely recommend it as the first hotel to research when looking for somewhere to stay in Krakow!! Also, the free wi-if throughout the hotel is AMAZING!!

Fantastic hotel, staff were very helpful. Hotel is spotless, my mum even did a joke inspection and there was no dust anywhere in our room. Is probably about 5/10 min walk to the main square and right next to a massive shopping centre, the supermarket in there is brilliant it sells cheap branded wine as I was missing good wine. Overall would recommend!

Assuming you're arriving by train or airport transfer bus, this is a conveniently located hotel as it's only a few minutes walk from the terminal. Clean, well staffed and very nice food too. The walk to the old town square is a manageable ten to fifteen minutes but after a long day on walking tours this may seem a step too far for less abled people. That said, trams and busses stop just outside (but get to grips with the ticketing for public transport!)

Food, although not a massive selection, was very very nice. Cooked in full view too. As with most of what we found in Krakow - the prices were very appealing also (compared to UK). Staff speak excellent English and were extremely friendly and accommodating.

Flat screen TV in the room, roomy shower cubicle and king size beds.

So, a well priced, well positioned hotel with all the comforts you could ever need in unfamiliar territory. If I were to travel to Krakow again I would definitely think about staying in this hotel again.

Room Tip: There is a bar/restaurant so a higher floor would be quieter no doubt. When I say bar, I mean a few...

I've been at Ibis Stare Miasto for businees trips, latest in March 2014.
Rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is good and varied. The position is very good, Old Town centre is less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel, adjacent to the hotel are one big shopping centre (Galeria Krakowska) and the train station.
One positive note is for the staff. Sometimes in big international hotel chains, staff keeps a very professional but cold and distant approach from guests. I can say that here I found professionality and support combined with warm manners. That is good, especially when you are in business travel.
If I have to return in Krakow, I'll choose it again.

Very nice hotel, keen, pleasant staff. Price for beer a bit excessive. This is not the first time I have stayed at this Ibis, previously had problems with the shower running from right temperature to scalding, to cold before returning to normal, either need thermostatic mixers or better pumps.
