This was our second stay in a Ibis Budget hotel and this experience was even better than the first we had.

Our train literally stopped in front of the hotel, as platform #1 at the main station is directly connected through a tunnel to the main entrance.

It's a merely fifteen minute walk from the old part of the town. However, there's a tram stop (Politechnika) just two minutes away from the hotel, which meant we could take the direct line to the Wawel Castle and Podgórze.

Apart from being close to Stare Miesto and the central station, we appreciated the fact of being just in front of a shopping mall, where we bought our groceries and toiletries (there's a Carrefour supermarket on the second floor).

The room was in perfect conditions and it was cleaned every single day.

Our only problem (nothing to do with the hotel itself) was having to deal with a bunch of very impolite Italian tourists that decided to scream at each other just under our window at 7 a.m.

We recently stayed at this hotel. We had a great time in Krakow, and this hotel had a lot to do with it! We had booked online from Canada a couple of months before, and it all worked out. There was no problem whatsoever when we got there!

Building: 2 minute walk to the main mall: Galeria Krakowska (huge mall with an excellent array of stores). 10 minute walk to the old town of Krakow (beautiful! tons of cafes, bistros, so much history!, carriage rides, and a great plaza with lots of pigeons and water fountains). 2 minute walk to the main train stations, buses, and street cars.

Room: VERY clean! In perfect condition, neat, modern lights in shower and all over the room. Alarm clock in TV set. Hypo-allergenic plant-based soap. Clean bed sheets, also washed in hypo-allergenic soap (which was so great for my husband who's allergic to a lot!) However: No phone, door has no peep hole, need extra towel or rug right outside of shower.

Service: Room service in regards to cleaning was great. She never disturbed us. She only came in when we were out. You need your room key to access the elevator as you're going up. The hotel has WI-Fi, you need only ask for the password at the front desk! They also have a computer near the front desk that you could use free of charge at any time of day to browse the internet! They're extremely helpful and friendly at the front desk (and they also speak English), by the way! You can have breakfast in the building for 20 sloty, which is a little expensive. Just go out to the old town and have a great breakfast on the plaza! Lunch or dinner you could do downstairs at their Ibis restaurant/grill -but you'll have to walk to their sister building next door; there's no connecting door. Food there is affordable, however and the restaurant is shiny and clean! The cleanest we visited in Poland! Lots of the waitresses are bilingual (just check their indicating country flags on their name tags!).

Thanks, Ibis Budget!

The good: it is cheap and the front desk staff friendly. The room was clean. The location excellent.
The bad: breakfast was awful. Crowded, very limited selection, no fresh fruit, coffee from a machine. Do not waste the money to eat here. People running wild in the hallways at night and no staff to remedy that problem. Beds not the most comfortable, but I have pad more for worse.
Tips: bring you own toiletries. You are provided two towels and a bar of soap. That is all.

Bottom line: stay somewhere else if you can afford it. I stayed here because I was curious about the concept since we have nothing like this in the states. I sacrificed a night's sleep, which was not worth it.

Stayed: September 2013
