We ate in this restaurant last night, we were drawn in by the live Polish music, which was really good and the best part of the experience! We only arrived in Poland a few hours earlier and wanted to experience a Polish restaurant. Sadly we were unimpressed with the food, we had to wait too long for a bowl of greasy soup with a few dumplings and carrots in it - this was served with no bread at all.
We both wanted the pork chop but were told they had none so I settled for a sausage and hubby had the chicken chop(!), more like a breaded chicken schnitzel. All of it rather bland and the sausage was so salty.
We ordered beers, as the wine was very expensive, even though we had waited ages for the soup, time passed and out came 2 glasses of popcorn, nice touch I thought. Then we ordered more drinks and each time out cam more popcorn. As we were hungry, and still waiting for the meals, it was nice to eat.
We asked for the bill and low and behold we had been charged for five lots of popcorn at 4 zloty each! Bloody cheek, but we put it down to experience and left! Also as mentioned before, the beer was handwritten on the bill, I also think this is a scam!
All in all, nice surroundings, lovely Polish atmosphere with the live music, but the food - yuk! And a rip off with the popcorn!

Average Place, but worth to relax, it is much more appropriate for you to stay there for a polish beer rather than have a formal meal.

We eat here on our last night, it offers good quality polish food, I had the fire cooked pork neck, it was nice the beer was good and there was a traditional Polish band playing, overall it was ok, nothing special, the service was ok, but the food and music made it feel traditional.

The beer as always in Poland is great.

Historically, this place may not have been so good, but now, this restaurant is not to be missed! The menu was extensive, the staff friendly, the atmosphere pleasant and the live music absolutely amazing.

Always hesitant to stop at a restaurant right in the central main square tourist area but we had gone into the sports bar Virtuoso on the main square to watch soccer on the big screen. Virtuoso is a great place to do so. HUGE screen in the back and multi TV's elsewhere so that everybody has a view. The back area has the feeling of being in somebody's living room and hanging out with friends. Upon using the bathroom, we realized three restaurants were actually connected and the wood paneled Staropolska (if you come in from the square, look for the giant buffalo) seemed cozy with pelts on the wall, traditional live music, and a roaring wood fired grill. We checked out the menu and there was something for everyone in our group and the prices were very reasonable. (Salads were about 5-7 PLN and main dishes were 14-18 PLN). The smoked goat cheese appetizer was fabulous. I had the Hunter's stew (they also have goulash) with chunks of meat and sauerkraut. Comfort food on a snowy cold evening. I also had a delicious salad with 3 different mini salads on the plate ( the beet with horseradish was my favorite). My friends had pierogi and grilled kebob meats. Everybody was happy with their meals and especially the price (having eaten at Szara the night before which was lovely but VERY expensive!). I would return again. Note that the service was slow all the way around so maybe not your best option if you are in a hurry. But if you have time and a little bit of patience, then come on in, Try to get a table in the back area by the fire as it is warmer and the musicians play in the entrance hallway and it would be too noisy for conversation.
