The mandatory place to be visited in Cracow is Wawel. The history and culture of the state can be founded there.

“Relax in the castle grounds”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

You can walk though the castle grounds and there is a good cafe in the corner. To go in various parts of the castle such as the state rooms, the Lady with ermine painting, and parts of the royal cathedral you have to buy the tickets from the office on the climb to the entrance gate. The state rooms are a little light on historic furniture and trappings which is not surprising given the numbers of armies that have tramped through. Leave the cafe after your visitand walk along the riverbank to see the fire breathing dragon by the castle walls. There are limits to the number of people allowed into the exhibits over the day, with counters at the ticket office

“Beautiful place with plenty of history about it”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

This castle is a beautiful place and it was really bright and nice at the midday sun on the day we visited it.
It quickly goes out of the tickets to the internal rooms and buildings, so you should come earlier. We didn't have much time and only took tickets to the cathedral. Many of the polish kings are honoured inside, and all the details on their deeds are stated. The inside decorations of the cathedral are impressive, and especially the authentic paintings in one of the rooms on the left side.
