We visited KraKow in May 2010, staying at the same hotel. We booked the hotel again for our visit in May 2011. We have visited Krakow many times, but never stayed at a hotel twice before, so that must mean it has to be good! This hotel has a priviliged location, It is not too big, and the room we had (same as last year) is great. Nice bathroom and a lot of space.

We might be back for even one more time if we come back!

This hotel is ideally located yet very quiet. (I was worried about the noisy church bells mentioned in other reviews, but the bells weren't too loud at all.) The mattress on the bed was very comfortable. We weren't too pleased that our "double" bed was really just two single beds pushed together, but the setup wasn't too bad because the bed frames were solidly situated and thus there was no possibility of falling between the beds to the floor. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and there was plenty of hot water for the shower. The breakfast was nothing special but was certainly adequate and filling, and it was available until 11 o'clock - a nice option if you stay out late the prior night.

The best part of the hotel is the spa! It is WONDERFUL, especially the steam/rain shower room. You have to pay extra and book in advance to use the spa - you choose between the jacuzzi room and the steam/rain shower room. I preferred the steam/rain shower room because it has amazing heated lounge chairs and just feels very luxurious. (The jacuzzi room was nice but not quite as impressive, and the jacuzzi temperature was more lukewarm than hot.) When you book a spa session a timer starts ticking down at the appointed time, so don't be late for your appointment! When the time is up the lights go out after a minute, although there still remains a bit of "leaked" light to finish rinsing off in the shower after the main lights go out.

The spa area was my favorite part of this hotel. I liked it so much that I plan to stay in Hotel Wawel again if I ever go back to Krakow.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

Cozy, elegant hotel. Wonderful value and location in the heart of Krakow's downtown.
Definitely will stay here again on my next trip to Krakow.

Hotel Wawel is conveniently located on a quiet side street, just steps from Krakow’s main square. We were pleased with our spacious room, which included a huge, modern bathroom and separate lounging area, but we suspect that our room was one of the larger ones. The hotel staff was hit-or-miss: the young woman who checked us in was incredibly friendly and helpful, giving us great directions on how to catch the public bus to the salt mines, and suggesting and making restaurant reservations. The young man who staffed the receptionist desk in the evenings, however, couldn’t be bothered by guests making inquiries. He seemed to be amused at our request for restaurant reservations. The room rate included breakfast, which was sufficient but well short of being anything noteworthy. Don’t bother getting a massage through the hotel; they were not at all relaxing or therapeutic, despite several failed attempts to request more pressure. All in all, we would recommend this hotel, given its superior location and comfortable rooms.

Just back from a 3 night stay in Hotel Wawel and have no major complaints.
Location excellent, staff friendly, Rooms clean and warm, Great showers.
Breakfast was basic but fine but beds were a bit hard for my taste.
Overall for the price we paid, i would recommend when visiting Krakow and would return.

My husband and I visited Krakow for our wedding anniversary in early December 2010. This is a lovely hotel, centrally located within very easy walking distance of the Old town. Breakfast was served in the Rocking Horse Restaurant and was very nice, a selection of meats, cheeses, pastries etc. with eggs cooked on request.
We used the spa which was available by booking in advance and was available for your own sole use and was payable by each 30 minute time slot. We found it very luxurious to have the whole facility to ourselves and was a lovely treat at the end of a very cold and tiring day sightseeing.
We visited the Market Square or Rynek, Wawel Castle and the University all of which are in easy walking distance of the Hotel Wawel. There are lots of lovely coffee and cake shops within the old town and lots of choice of restaurants too.
