We visited Krakow on an extremely warm and very sunny weekend at the end of April, which only enhanced this fabulous and beautiful city. As for the Polonia Hotel it was a charming, classic period hotel, a little tied in places but very clean and functional. We were given a room on the top floor at the back of the hotel facing the courtyard which was very quiet even with the windows open, but friends of ours had a room at the front of the hotel which was a little noisier and filled with early morning sunshire and so may appeal to heavier sleepers. Breakfast is the classic continenal mix of ham, cheese, coffee, juice, cereal etc, if you want scrabbled eggs just ask for them at the bar.
The hotel has a good range of information available about Krakow, from maps, tourist routes around the city, too bar and restaurants guides, if you are a bit of a beer connoisseur and i mean a lover of quaility beer rather than large copious amounts, you must go to the House Of Beer, if you like a good english pub head for the Bull Pub.
A couple more points regarding the Polonia, there is a safe at the hotel just ask at reception and if you require an iron and an ironing board again just ask.
One final thing, please be cautious regarding the lift, it is quite old style and requires you to enter the lift and stand away from the door before selecting your floor, enough said!
We would use this hotel again on a return visit to Krakow.

Room Tip: If possible to choose, get a room on the top floor and facing in towards the courtyard.

We stayed at the Hotel Polonia in October and found it to be an really good hotel.
It is very close to the main railway station which we arrived at after getting the train from the airport and only a pleasant ten minutes walk to the centre of the Old Town.Staff were friendly and quickly got us booked in and shown our room which was overlooking a small courtyard to the rear of the hotel. I don't know if the front rooms would be noisy or not but the road junction outside the hotel was quite busy during the day but was quiet at night. There is a wide pedestrian underpass over the road which has a few shops as well and there are also plenty of crossing points so the busy road was no problem to us.

The bedroom was large with bottled left for us. The bathroom was very clean and had an excellent power shower.

The Hotel breakfast was a very nice self service buffet type with a varied selection of the usual hot and cold continental food. The reception gave you tickets for each days breakfast and you handed them in when you went in to eat.

There is a Tour Office a few doors away from the Hotel and they sold all the tours slightly cheaper than most places we saw. On our day of departure the staff let us leave our bags locked up in a room next to reception as our flight home was not till tea time and it meant we could have a last few hours without taking cases everywhere which was good.

We enjoyed staying in our Hotel I'd have no hesitation in going back there if we return to Krakow, which we also loved.

We stayed at the hotel polonia for a four night stay in feburary. After reading some mixed reviews we were worried about the issue surrounding noise we had a second floor room facing the inner court yard and experienced no traffic noise however noise from other rooms did Carry which was the same from other hotels Ive stayed in. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful when approached. rooms were clean and tidy as was the rest of the hotel. Location is excellent for exploring the old town and surrounding attractions due to proximity to the bus and train stations. Breakfast was good value for money if your willing to eat local. If your looking for a good functional Hotel in a great location for exploring krakow stay here . If your looking for a hotel that you can sit in your room watch tv and order room service then this isn't for you. In short fantastic location good hotel friendly staff.

Just came back from Krakow- we stayed two nights at Polonia Hotel- location is perfect- just short disctance to walk to main market sq.via Grodzka street.
We stayed in new section, large room & bathroom was nice& clean, two single bads pushed together, very small old tv, noise rooms from street side.Parking is av. for 45 pln/night or you can park for free on the street (during weekend for free- mon-fr 10am -8pm - you need to pay acc. to local rates and area)

Breakfast was ok, huge selection of food including sc. eggs, hod-dogs,rice,muesli , yogurths and so on.

Only service at the front desk was rather poor and not helpfull.

Room Tip: take room 203 !!!

Just returned from yet another 6 night stay!To us that says it all. Spent many stays at this hotel. We love Krakow, and love the Polonia Hotel. It is very old fashioned in furnishings etc, but this is what makes it so nice. It was built I think in 1912, and the decor suits the hotel. Very large rooms, with television, but NO TEA MAKING FACILITIES, with nice big ensuite bathrooms with a hair dryer. The breakfast is very good with a large choice, cereal, omelette/scrambled egg/ various hams/ salad /cheeses/polish sausage/ bread/ rolls/ fresh fruit/ fruit juices/ tea/ coffee. Never found the need to complain about the cleanliness. The restuarant also serves lunch and evening meal. food is very good, and very reasonably priced. The location of the hotel, is excellent for the Railway, Bus Station,Krakow Galleria (a very large shopping mall) and ofcourse the main square(with cloth hall) For us this is the hotel we,ll be happy to keep returning to.

Room Tip: No A/C in any rooms to my knowledge. Rooms facing into the courtyard are quieter, but a bit smaller...

As others say, the location is excellent but it does mean that, if you want to avoid traffic noise you need an "inner" rather than an "outer" room. Our party had one of each and we were all pleased with our rooms. The hotel is slightly faded but clean and functional. The staff were generally welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate and the views, of the busy street outside, provided plenty of entertainment. I would be happy to stay here again.
We organised all our trips before arrival and thatg worked well for us. Great place for a visit.

Room Tip: it's a question of traffic noise versus street theatre.
