“The only thing going for this hotel is location.”
Reviewed 23 June 2013 via mobile

Myself and my husband stayed for 3 nights, Thursday to Sunday, staff were ok, not overly friendly ,breakfast was included for an xtra supplement but I'd recommend finding a small cafe somewhere for breakfast as it was very plain, not much choice at all. Location was ideal, just a 2 minute walk to the old town but this was the only reason I booked this hotel, I intend on going back to krakow as it is truly an amazing city but I will not be returning to hotel polonia again.

We stayed 4 nights, location as many have said is great, steps from Old Town, train station and tram/bus stop right outside the hotel. But the trams are noisy and since its a key stop many people coming and going and making noise until early hours of the morning, so if you are a light sleeper you will likely be bothered by the noise, but if oiu close the double windows it makes it much more quiet, but NO AC so if its hot that will not be an option. Also when the trams pass by the room can shake, did not bother me but my wife felt it every time. Our room was clean (a little dust in some places like top of the armoire/closet), bathroom was updated, but overall yes the hotel is period/dated but that was fine by us. Staff were generally helpful, we could not get wifi connection and they reset the router and checked with us 2x to make sure we were back online. Did not eat there as much cheaper options within a few blocks. Overall we'd stay again as it was a good value (based on US prices), clean and great location.

Room Tip: Ask for an interior facing room to avoid the street/tram noise if it fits in you budget.

please don't be fooled from the outside, looks dated /from another era but the welcome was warm and friendly. The inside is period and a little dark but the lifts worked, the staff were helpfull(supplied a fan on a really hot day without being asked) Breakfast was more than adequate, plenty of choice.Did miss not having a kettle in the room. Trams are a bit noisy but the local beer is a great sedative I found.

Room Tip: rooms at the rear are the quietest

Hotel is lovely especially the exterior but inside it is rather outdated. I was only here for one night so it was ok, not one of my first choices but it was already booked by a Polish friend so for one night it was ok.

My view is very similar to that of others.

The location was ideal as we were travelling by train, arriving late evening and leaving mid morning next day. The station is an easy 5 minute walk away.

The hotel has some great decorative features from a bygone era. However, it appears to have been caught in a time warp and could really benefit from being carefully renovated to maintain the best features.

Having said that the hotel was clean, our room was comfortable and benefited from overlooking a garden rather than the main street, thus reducing the noise from trams.

Breakfast was ok but as others have said there is not a huge choice.

Generally the staff were efficient and helpful.

Overall the hotel offers reasonable value for money and is fine for a one or two night stop.

Stay away from this hotel. Service is awful. Stuff is unfriendly and from their faces you could say they hate their jobs and tourists.
We stayed at Polonia for 2 nights may 10-may11, 2013. We chose the hotel because it was very close to a train station – just 5 -10 min walking distance. We arrived early around 7 am and were quickly checked in. The receptionist didn’t greet us at all, was angry and irritated. She (unfortunately I didn’t recall her name and she didn’t have a badge) didn’t say anything about hotel: breakfast time, check out time, any sightseeing tours, maps. She seemed like tourists bother her too much. We booked a trip to Auschwitz for next day and should be picked up at 8:30 in the morning. We were waiting for a half an hour outside the hotel; nobody showed up; then I decided to ask a receptionist for a help. She said that a tour operator had called the night before to inform us that we would be picked up an hour later. The receiptionist even didn’t bother to reach us either when they received a call or next day in the morning. When I asked her why she didn’t notify us she just smiled at me. The room was dirty, beds were awful: you sleep in a hammock.
Breakfast was all right. We had a dinner at the hotel and surprisingly it was very good and cheap. A waiter: an old guy served very professionally with no English but lots of smiles. We liked him very much.
