This hotel is no more than 100 metres from the Market Square in Krakow and is a very classy establishment indeed. The staff are first class, as is the general ambience of the place and the rooms themselves. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this top-notch hotel to friends and family alike. If you are thinking of pampering yourselves for a few days in a friendly, vibrant historic Eastern European city go to Krakow and stay at the Grand Hotel.

Room Tip: Just go, I can't believe you'd be disappointed with any of the rooms !

I would rate this as a 3.5 overall. Staff was friendly but did not provide me with Internet instructions. Room got cold in the night even using the extra blanket. There was a fair amount of noise, not sure whether it was insider or outside. Also I emailed the hotel in advance for help with bus transportation and they never responded. Only welcome chocolates by not nightly. On the positive side, the breakfast included in my reservation was a decent hot and col buffet, not just a cheap continental.

Some people never write reviews unless they are disappointed. Others write because the hotel has exceeded their expectations and they want people to know. I am in the 2nd category. This hotel is in an excellent location. I knew that before I went, but what I couldn't know from the reviews I read was just how excellent this hotel is. I read somewhere that the breakfast buffet was small.... I didn't count the number of individual items of food on offer, but it may well have been over 50. Then there was the decor - sheer opulence. And the staff - absolutely charming, attentitive and helpful at all times, especially the receptionist, Marta. I have stayed in many hotels, but this is one of the best.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem reasonably quiet, given the proximity to the square.

We stayed 3 persons in a room in this fantastic building. The room was huge and the the bathroom was clean and modern. Very friendly staff, always smiling and giving excellent service.
1 minute away from the Main Square and the beautiful church.
The breakfast buffet was small, but good.

We stayed at the Grand for the first time for 8 days. The hotel is a wonderful, old palace...with huge rooms and great facilities. The location (2 short blocks off the square) is excellent for encouraging easy treks to many interesting and beautiful destinations in Krakow.

But....the two twin (or single) beds in our room were quite low to the ground, and with only one mattress, not too comfortable. The staff attempted to had fluff using folded blankets and an extra duvet, but I think they'd be better off with an inch or two of foam on top of the mattress.

Others have talked about outside noise [including one other couple we met during our stay]. We were in the back (room 53), and it was very, very quiet! We both loved the classic look of not just our room, but the hallways and staircases. Quite grand!

The staff, from the folks behind the desk to the guys who took care of the doors and luggage were all friendly and spoke English. They were very helpful with ideas and suggestions during our visit as well.

The morning breakfast was very good -- a buffet, with a chef to make omelets, or other egg-dishes, plus a good assortment of cereals, meats, cheeses, breads, and pasteries. The wait staff were very attentive and always greeted us with a smile and a "good morning".

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room! (We know #53 is!!)

I have stayed at The Grand on several occasions, with friends, with my husband and on my daughters 18th birthday (her request to go to Krakow). The same beautiful young lady served breakfast, lovely hot coffee or tea with hot milk. The rooms are extremely historic, very clean with old style classic bathrooms. The hotel has a hair salon, a doorman the staff are friendly. The reception advised the best places to organise trips too. A lovely relaxed hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a good view, especially in winter when it snows.

Excellent location as you can be in the main square within a minutes walk, meaning 90% of the tourist attractions are within walking distance. Excellent restaurants and nightlife all close by.

The hotel is very pleasant, nice rooms, staff were very friendly and helpful (and English was not a problem at all!). Free wireless accessible, although signal was weak in our room.

Highly recommended, especially if you can get a good deal on room rates. In summary, hotel very good but the location makes this a five star stay.
