“Honeymoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013

Lovely hotel, excellent staff and in a great location.
We arrived at 7am in the pouring rain, I assumed I would have to return at 2pm to check in but to my surprise we were given breakfast and our room was ready 20minutes later.
The hotel was lovely, the swimming pool and sauna in the cellar was a great spot to relax. But if it's sight seeing your going for then this hotel at the gates of the castle is the perfect location. Oh and they have an excellent restaurant!

The hotel is in a lovely old building which has been beautifully restored/maintained. The service was above and beyond -- we were taken care of in every way. It is a very short walk (5-10 mins) to the main square along the main street of the old town. Around the corner from terrific shopping. We choose the junior suite, castle view so our room was bright and sunny -- we had 2 floor to ceiling windows with a large french door we could open to let in the breeze. We enjoyed a glass of wine in front of the windows in the lovely leather lounge chairs. The room was very large and included a couch that converted to a bed in addition to the king size bed.

Now for our only complaints -- I'd read a couple times about the bathrooms not having showers. As this is very common in Europe, i dismissed the comments. However, they are on the mark. Our bath was near to impossible to get in and out of and we are both under 50! For anyone with balance or strength issues, I don't know who they would manage. We contemplated using the shower in the gym. Further grips or redesign is necessary. Please inquire as to the shower situation when booking a room for your safety.

The roof deck is lovely and open to all -- and right over room 301. Both evenings groups used the deck well past midnight. They were loud in the hallway outside the elevator (and or door) and then moved the outdoor furniture around, dragging across the tiles. I would suggest that a polite sign be posted reminding guests using the rooftop that there are people sleeping. I'd further suggest it be closed at midnight or so.

I would definitely stay here again and recommend to vistors looking for a unique, high quality, high service hotel.

Room Tip: We were in the junior suite with castle view (room 301). Bright sunny and large with 2 seating area...

Dear Karen,

Thank you for your detailed review on Trip Advisor.

It has been a real pleasure to host you in our hotel. We will take all your comments about the bath/shower combination under careful consideration during the next reconstruction works. Due to the historical value of the building some technical solutions are impossible to install but we do our best.

We hope to welcome you at the Copernicus in the nearest future again.
Best personal regards,
Joanna Wilgierz

Yes, it is a bit dark and the room sizes might disappoint. BUT it is a historic building in the heart of Krakow, so in some aspects there is only so much the management could do.

I would rather focus on the wonderful, warm, extremely professional staff and the nicest hotel manager we have ever met - Joanna. You see the dedication and involvement of the team everywhere. Or maybe I should praise the decor and the care in every little detail that surrounds the guests? Or the help I received when I had left my mobile phone in a taxi and when we had to get to nearby Katowice? Or maybe, last but not least, the exquisite dinner we had on our last night in Krakow? The menu and the experience in the restaurant is sublime.

All in all, an unforgettable experience. We will be back for sure:-)

Lovelyhotel in a quiet street near the castle, comprising old buildings joined by a covered courtyard. This results in rooms of different shapes and decor, instead of the usual cookie cutter rooms of international chains. The service is always friendly and efficient.
I always stay here in Krakow, and it is one of my favourite hotels.

We just spent 4 magical days in krakow where we made hotel Copernicus our home. We were met by Joanna, the hotel manager, who effervescence and warmth made us feel more than welcome. Our room was large, comfortable, with everything one could need. Hotel staff is efficient and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Can't wait to come back!!!

We have stayed at Copernicus before on previous visits and return because for location, comfort, elegance and history, this hotel is hard to beat. There are cheaper places to stay but because Krakow's old town is such an attractive place to wander and admire the buildings, sit at cafe tables sipping a latte and watching the world amble by, we always feel our time is enhanced by staying here. Breakfasts are served in the main hall area as well as the restaurant space. Try and get one of the 4 marble tables in the main hall as it is naturally lit and bright and you can enjoy the surroundings as you have your cooked or cold breakfast. Reception staff are smart and helpful and all speak excellent English (and other languages as well). They have a good restaurant but there are many others within easy walking distance so we always feel spoiled for choice. There is a small gym and a pool the size of an extra large bath if you feel like a swim or some exercise. Think about a stay here - coming out of your hotel and gazing up at the nearby magnificent Royal Palace is hard to beat.

Room Tip: Standard Rooms can be quite small so ask about size when booking.

Located as you come down from Castle Hill. Two centuries old buildings joined by a courtyard covered by a glass ceiling.
Warm and welcoming. Food was excellent and a great place to stop for a lunch after seeing the castle and cathedral.
Relais et Chateau never disappoint and this is no exception! Great location for seeing the sights of the city.
