If you are staying in the cheaper rooms in the back, find another place to stay. The beds are uncomfortable, the room smelled funny, the bathroom was old and dirty looking and there was not a safe or a hair dryer. The location was the only redeeming factor

The good's:
- Very good priced hotel in the old town on the way to Kazimierz old Jewish district.
- Friendly staff
- Refurbished room, but still the old nice feel.
- Breakfast on the porch.

The bad's:
- The included breakfast was a bit on the poor end.
- Busy (crowded!) and loud breakfast room.

This is a great value for money option in central Krakow, just foot steps away from the old castle on the Wawel hill. Managed to get a single room just two night before actual travel for as little as 199 zloty (approx. 45 euros) and this for a Saturday night when the Scandinavians has indvaded the area for the weekend.

Friendly staff at reception, smooth and quick check-in and bellhop (well more like a grumpy old security guy, but bellhop sounds cooler) to bring me to my room thru this maze of a hotel. Old nice feel, high ceilings and nice old details.

My room was simple, with beautiful old hardwood floor, newly renovated bathroom and super high ceiling. Bed was so-so.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant next to the walk way thru the park. Very poor variety of food, but coffee was great and I think you will be able to sit on the porch during summer, however this was closed during my stay.

Great hotel located across the road from the castle and cathedral and a short walk to the market square. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a quiet relaxing bar at one end of the building and a great restaurant / bar at the side of the hotel. This restaurant is extremely popular, not only with tourists staying at the hotel or in the area but also with locals. This is for the simple reason that the quality of the food & drink at such great prices, served by friendly, efficient staff, ensures that customers come back again and again (we came back to the hotel most afternoons and evenings during our stay). The hotel was originally four separate buildings now joined together so it takes a while finding your way around but once you do it's easy to navigate and is part of the experience. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the castle are quieter as there is a footpath on this side. The trams run on the far s...

This is the best located hotel in Krakow; across the street from Wawel Castle, a 10 minute walk to the Main Square, and a 15 minute walk to the Jewish District. The hotel opened in 1898 and is comprised of 4 Art Nouveau buildings that were combined into a contiguous building, hence many steps up and down between the original buildings. If you like conventional hotel rooms, stay in a renovated deluxe room on the Planty side. However, if you want to experience grand-style old Krakow, stay in an apartment (suite) in the original building. After much research, we chose apartment 121, a 100 square meter accommodation consisting of a foyer, office, living room, bedroom, bathroom and half bathroom. It also has two balconies. See the below pictures for more detail. Apartments 221 and 321 are similar to 121 but somewhat smaller. Apartment 121 lists for around 500 PLN per night but may be available at a reduced rate. Make your reservation directly with the hotel (e-mail address is royal@hotelewam.pl). They are very helpful. Two caveats: The bathroom only has a tub with handheld shower (which takes some getting used to). Thanks to double glazing, its quiet with the windows closed. It may be noisy with the windows open in the warmer months.

Room Tip: Chose Apartment 121 to experience the grand style of Old Krakow. Its very large (100 square meters...

The place is good, near to everything. The staff is polite, and helpfull. But the singlerooms are awful, small, ugly and old. So i recommand to book a dobbleroom in this hotel. The breakfast is allright but nothing more than allright...

We stayed at the Royal Hotel for a week in very snowy January 2014 and we loved it .We booked a superior room directly with the hotel and emailed in advance our requirements. Each e mail was met with a prompt and helpful response so that we were very clear what were getting before we got there.

Our room was absolutely huge and was overlooking the park. It was clean and most importantly warm during a bitterly cold spell.

The restaurant attached to the hotel is just fabulous. It's cheap and very very cheerful. There is live music on some evenings which is great fun but not at all" in your face"
.
The restaurant was packed every night and most lunchtimes with a mixture of locals and tourists. It was great for us as the snow was about 6 inches deep outside and so when we didn't want to brave the great outdoors we didn't have to.

Breakfast was also served in the restaurant and it was brilliant with loads of choice to suit all tastes and nationalities.

As has been written many times before on T.A the hotel is huge and very confusing for the first couple of days but once we got used to it ,it was fine, They really should provide efficient signs in a maze like this to help guests locate their rooms. They are,at present, virtually non existent.

The Royal couldn't be better positioned for access to everywhere you would want to visit in Krakow. We had a wonderful week there and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Definitely book a superior (lux) room. The standard rooms are actually below an acceptable standard...

A fabulous, clean, warm and very spacious hotel. Warm and welcoming staff and good choice of breakfast. Overlooks the castle and a pleasant walk to the square. Trams and taxis easily available and very reasonably priced.
