“Fabulous”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

A truly fabulous stay in this hotel in the historic city of krakow .Our room overlooked the main square which was full of Christmas market cabins. The hotel is one of the grandest I have ever stayed in, the decor was beautiful and very ornate. Our room was perfect, newly done in think. You can actually choose the room you want from pictures on the website. We had breakfast, which was lovely a cold buffet and a choice of egg dishes to order. All of the staff are very friendly and courteous and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the airport. No cars are allowed in the main square so the driver helped us to the hotel. I would recommend the hotel taxi firm as they spoke good English and was able to recommend various places. Krakow itself is full of history, the underground museum under the main square was amazing and it didn't cost a penny! Old churches surround the square and are worth a visit. Of course we had to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau the saddest place I have ever been. Schindlers factory was worth visiting.. We got a tram back from there as the taxis waiting there to take you away we're charging over double the price to get there! Also I would recommend the restaurant connected to the hotel next door, the staff are again very friendly and eager to please. We will go back to the Hotel Wentzl hopefully in the summer months. A fabulous stay ... The only down side .. No Snow !!

Room Tip: Any room facing the square, although don't know if in the summer there could be some noise.. But...

The Hotel Wentzl is fantastic we stayed on the top floor in room 43 which is very well decorated, cozy and has a brilliant view over the main square. The hotel management and staff were all very friendly and helpful, before we arrived I phoned the hotel and they arranged a cab to pick us up from the Airport he was waiting in the arrivals hall as soon as we got there. The first impression of the hotel was how grand it looked especially the restaurant beautifully decorated. On going in there for breakfast we were pleasantly surprised to hear 1930-40s music playing in the background, the breakfast menu is pretty small mostly egg dishes but there is small buffet which is fine. If your thinking of going to Krakow the Hotel Wentzl is definitely worth checking out.

Excellent hotel with great views of the square ,or old town if you have a room at the rear of the hotel.
Really friendly and helpful reception staff offering advice on tickets for local attractions.Great coffee maker in the room with a well stocked, reasonably priced mini bar. You can get cheaper hotel rooms in Krakow, but this is the only one actually in the square ,which adds to the romance of the place. Thoroughly recommend you stay here!

Room Tip: High room at the rear has great view of the castle area, but noise from neighbouring AC / chimney...

This hotel has it all. An historic merchant's house overlooking the Old Market Square, sumptuous rooms, warm welcoming intelligent staff, a cracking breakfast and the ancient heart of Krakow on your doorstep.

My wife and I stayed here in October 2013 for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

The location is absolutely perfect – right on the Old Town Square with easy access to more cafes, bars and restaurants that you could visit in a year. Although the square is a pedestrian zone, vehicles can still drop off and pick up outside the front door. It’s only a 5-minute walk to the cathedral area, 15 minutes walk down to Kazimierz and a 25-minute taxi trip from the airport.

Our room was facing the square and to say the view was beautiful would be an understatement. The panorama of the square was a pleasure to enjoy first thing in the morning as the city is waking up and last thing at night when it’s dark and bustling with people enjoying the nightlife. The room itself was large with a huge bed, sitting area, desk and plenty of storage. The modern feature bathroom had lots of luxury toiletries and like the bedroom it was spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was served in a very grand dining room and was quite enjoyable. However there wasn’t a particularly wide selection to choose from and frequently items had run out very early in the morning. For example, during our stay there was no English breakfast tea for all but the first morning. However, what was available was of a high quality and the freshly prepared mushroom omelettes were very good.

The staff were always friendly, especially at the front desk. They handled our reservations for Auschwitz and Wieliczka Salt Mine as well as making restaurant reservations and arranging for a taxi transfer back to the airport when it was time to leave.

The booking process directly with the hotel, check-in and check-out all were thoroughly efficient and the communication from the hotel at all stages of our stay is to be commended.

In summary, highly recommended because of the perfect location, friendly staff and smooth processes.

Stayed at the wentzl for 3 nights pre Christmas. The run up to the stay was a fantastic indicator of the nothing is too much trouble attitude of the staff who helped us reserve a specific room, arrange airport transfers, restaurants and local tours. Nothing was too much trouble and they also let us loan DVDs from the in house film library.
The location of the hotel, the only one on the main square is fantastic and despite the christmas market and high wooden ceilings /floors surprisingly quiet. We had a great nights sleep in a wonderful, very traditional, large room with a four poster bed. The room was also very clean and had good facilities inc coffee machine and full mini bar. I would highly recommend this hotel and it's lovely staff.

Room Tip: Try room 21 for the view of the square and the four poster bed.
