Stayed here for four nights in March. Highly recommended and easy walking distance to centre and bus/train station. We went for the Suite and well worth the extra £10/night. We were on the 4th floor on the side so was not noisy but I imagine it may be at the front. School visits are plenty but did not cause us any issue. Breakfast albeit a buffet was perfectly adequate to set us up for the day. Did not use the bar. Room was very clean and large. We are looking forward to returning and will certainly come back to this hotel. Staff were extremely helpful. We bussed from the airport to the Galleria shopping Centre - 80p each!!! And then walked to hotel which is about 10' away. Don't really need a taxi. On our return we walked back to bus/train station and got train to airport - about £2 each!!! All in all so much to see and do - can't wait to return to Krakow and stay in same hotel. A good start to your holiday is the "Free walking Tours" - just meet in the market sq by St. Mary's church at 11:00AM.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side are probably quieter and well worth the upgrades to a suite - level 4 is nice!

I arrived back home yesterday from Poland after a 2 night stay in Krakow at the Wyspianski Hotel. I really and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

My first impression on seeing the hotel from the outside was dissapointment and I was even nervous to see what would await me on the inside but I cant say how pleasantly surprised I was.

Once you travel through the city, you will soon realise the exterior of many places does not seem to be a priority and its the inside that counts.

We arrived to a friendly and helpful front desk, Our bags were placed under in the porters room as check in was only at 2pm.

When we arrived back after many hours of walking and sightseeing, there was nothing better than getting to our clean, modern room. We stayed in room 462. I assume it is part of the new wing as everything looked new. Our room was a great size, flat screen tv, clean and modern, bathroom was neat and modern and really nothing to complain about.

The hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of what was offered and the price paid.

You also cant get a better location, it is based a street away from the old market square in the city centre and finding restaurants and our bearings was a complete breeze.

One night was particularly cold and we requested an extra blanket and pillow, these were promptly bought to our room...no problem or long wait.

Another great aspect is that the tour to Auschwitz can be booked through the hotel and the bus/coach collects you from the lobby, quick and easy.

If there were two things to mention; and this are by no means negatives just more of a heads up; the showers are small and the breakfast is adequate and sufficient but I am sure a breakfast in the old square would be better.

My time in Krakow was exceptional and only made better by the real accomodation we had. I would definitely go back and stay in Hotel Wyspianski again.

Firstly the exterior does not give a brilliant first impression but you will have plenty other things to see so dont worry! Inside, it is clean, friendly and the rooms perfectly adequate for a short stay. Not that I wanted to watch TV but the teenagers were not interested in business news or the euro news reel and they were the English options. It did have free wifi though so business as usual with the Blackberries.
The hotel is perfectly situated at the south east corner of the old town, literally 5 mins max from the main square.Cross one road, the narrow parkway and you are on the side road leading in. The food in the restaurants and cafes in Krakow is plentiful and good value and luckily has a selection of international as well as Polish cuisine so the teens coped in that way as well. You can walk everywhere but there is good public transport.Highly recommend the Salt Mines as a trip out of town, teens enjoyed that one. In the evening we went to several jazz bars and there was no issue with the teens being with us. Mine are 15 and 17 but they look like older twins so not sure how it would be for younger looking children. Also live rock bands with karaoke..not my cup of tea but they loved it.It is friendly and feels safe with a good police presence which felt safe rather than intimidating and as its a university town ,seems tolerant of young people which is not always the case.We never saw any trouble at all or alcohol induced shennanigans. The hotel breakfast starts early until 11am..again good for teens who dont believe the day starts until the hour has two numbers. We loved Krakow and the hotel served us well. It can be noisy but you are in the middle of a busy city. I guess if you were further out it might be quieter but really this didnt interfere for us as we were shattered with the miles of walking each day.If you are thinking of visiting outside the city I can highly recommend www.transferspoland.com , the taxi service that collected us from the airport and arranges our visits to the salt mines and to Auschwitz for my daughter and myself. Very reliable, friendly and safe service. I can particularly recommend Slawek , our driver who was polite, attentive and ensured that myself and my daughter were secured with our guides at these sites and purchased our tickets as part of the price. He was very knowledgeable and happy to chatter about all aspects of Polish life and culture. Equally happy to be quiet after we'd left Auschwitz which we needed. The hotel is not beautiful or historic..1970s styling but it is good value, in an excellent position and offers all you need for a short break. We had a classic double and standard twins. Finally, only negative, you need to take your own shampoo etc. which with security at airports is a tiny niggle! There is a supermarket about 200yards away though.

The Hotel is quite close to the City centre. Once over the busy main road outside the hotel you walk through some side streets and you are there within five minutes. There is very little traffic en route and the massive market square and surrounding areas are virtually pedestrianized. The hotel staff are efficient though not particularly friendly. Most people in Poland seem to speak English, especially the younger generation. The hotel was very clean and warm. We were disappointed with our room as the beds were end to end and the ensuite ( with shower and toilet ) was tiny. The wash basin was too small to have a proper wash in. It's ok to rinse hands after using the loo but that's all. There is a large dining room which serves a buffet style breakfast from 7am to 11am ( when we were there ). The hotel has many coach parties staying so if you eat later you may find some things have gone. There is a good selection of ham, cheese, bread rolls, cakes, fruit, hard boiled eggs with mayonaise, plus a few cooked meats and a small selection of cereals. The coffee was horrible and the milk was warm on several mornings.
We made the mistake of calling in at the hotel bar one evening and I don't think the barmaid smiled once!
For a short stay this hotel is ok. It's reasonably priced, is in a good location and provides everything you need even though some things could be improved.

Room Tip: Be aware of the narrow rooms with end to end beds. No good if you are on a romantic trip. Find out i...

What is good about Wyspianski is that it is centrally located and has parking available at the back of the hotel. It is less than 5 minutes walk to the main square. Nice big breakfast with a lot to chose from. But the room was just standard. Very small and with a small TV with bad reception. Good value for money.

Friends had recommended the Wyspianski and their view seemed to be backed up by some pretty positive reviews on Trip Advisor.

The hotel looks awful from the outside. Even arriving late at night the building does not have much appeal and in daylight things got worse. It looks as though there is a lot of external refurbishment going on so don't be put off by this. Inside, the hotel looked fine. We had single rooms and these were perfectly adequate. The beds were more like "small doubles" rather than "singles".

All the staff we met spoke perfect English and were happy to advise on tours and places to eat.

The bar is small and bright and definitely not the sort of place that invites you to linger. With so many great drinking establishments on the doorstep this is not a problem.

Friends told us dinner was good but I can't comment on that since we only used the restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast was a bit disorganised and not very convenient for small groups. Most of the tables were set for 6 or more and each day we had to share a table. Breakfast is tasty, varied and plentiful.

Our big complaint was the noise - not from other guests but from ambulances!!! There is a hospital at the back of the hotel and, from our experience, ambulances are required to use their sirens at the loudest level every time they leave or arrive at the hospital. Expect to be awakened by raucous sirens every hour or so.

Krakow is a beautiful city and I would love to return.
