“Wonderful Hotel in Krakow, Poland”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Our stay at the Sheraton Krakow was exceptional. The hotel is square in shape with an atrium in the middle, which makes it feel very open and sunny. There is a very good internet area by the bar, and the desk employees are very helpful. The reviews have suggested asking for a "castle view". We could only get a room with a view of the top part of the castle, but that was O.K. The restaurants and bars are located in the atrium area, and there is an outdoor restaurant and bar on a higher floor that serves beverages and a light menu. The outdoor bar and restaurant has a sweeping view of the Vistula river, which is very relaxing and enjoyable. The breakfast buffet is expansive and serves everything from fruits, egg dishes made to order, yogurts, pastries, breads, juices, and cereals.

The Sheraton Krakow is also within walking distance of the castle, the old town and markets, and many authentic ethnic restaurants. There is a wonderful Ukranian restaurant very close by, the Smak Ukrainski, which has seating in a quaint enclosed courtyard with trees and flowers. Prices in Krakow are also very reasonable. The Sheraton Krakow is a wonderful hotel in a great location, and we'll always remember our fond memories there.

Room Tip: Ask for a castle view room or a river view room.

The hotel is located very near the Wawel Castle. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful in answering any questions. It's about a 10 minute walk to the town square.

Stayed last weekend, as a group of 4 in 2 rooms. From the moment we arrived staff couldn't do enough for us, so friendly and helpful. Rooms were fantastic, very clean and modern with extremely comfortable beds (very quiet). Breakfast buffet was plentiful and very tasty. Ate in the Sports bar and the roof top terrace (fab views and atmosphere). Great location right on the river and only a 10-15 min walk to the medieval square with a massive choice of restaurants and bars. Perfect for a weekend in Krakow. We visited Auschwitz and the Salt Mine and had pick ups directly from the hotel. Fabulous, can't wait to return.

Modern style hotel on the banks of the Vistula River in a quiet part of town about a 15 min walk from both the Jewish Quarter and the Old Town. Our room faced the river and also had views of the castle. The room was spacious, well equipped and clean, although room service was bit hit and miss. Sometimes not enough towels, then only one flannel and then no robes at all. On one day out of the five, we got the full kit. Breakfast was served in the atrium area, with the full range of the usual items, buffet style. There is a fitness area in the basement with a rather small pool. On the roof there is an open air bar and snack area during the summer months, good place to relax after a busy day sightseeing. The front desk was particularly helpful in arranging tours and offering transport advice. We were unfortunate to be in the hotel when there was a very noisy wedding party, which went on into the small hours with very loud music. Despite repeated requests to lower the volume at 2 am, nothing was done. I would suggest rooms 110-120 and 210-220 would potentially suffer noise from the function room underneath, ours was 219.

Room Tip: Rooms 110-120 and 210-220 could be noisy if there is an evening party in the function room.

The best is the beds and pillows. The worst is no free Internet in the rooms. Many other hotels in Krakow have free internet in the rooms, so I don't understand why a dive star hotel doesn't. It was annoying to have to go to the lobby to use our laptop. The lobby and restaurant area are very open, and you have a view to the upper floors. Because of the great ceiling height, noise carries, and it can be difficult to hear if speaking to a group. The hotel personnel speak English and were helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent. They had everything except Nutella, which was disappointing.

This hotel is beautifully located on the river and very close to the castle complex which is just a short distance away by foot. The rooms are a trifle small but very clean with modern furnishings and fine bathroom amenities. The staff is very helpful. The Olive Restaurant within the hotel serves very fine food and there are computers in the lobby for guests to use free of charge. The hotel is very close to the castle complex and it is maybe a ten minute walk to the Old Town Square and maybe twenty minutes to the old Jewish area of Krakow.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the river
