“City and Hotel Exceeded Expectations”

Title: City and hotel exceeded our expectations
ID#: 35994557

We stayed at the hotel in early May of 2009

The hotel was excellent. We had a great view of the river from room 404. The room was about 400 square feet including the bath. More than adequate closet and shelving. An older T.V. provided good reception. Two comfortable lounge chairs. Two small night stands. Good bed. We were very satisfied

The hotel provided one free item of cleaning. The Club Floor was excellent providing an adequate breakfast and wine in the evening....nice snacks throughout the day and evening. Free internet was a great feature!

We had a wonderful guide for our walking/driving tour of the city. Her name was Marta....phone from the 011 48 603 668 008....martachm@op.pl . Her husband drove us to Auschwitz and Birkenau as well as the salt mines. He is an excellent driver. All sights were certainly worthy of a visit. The town center is really charming.

You might enjoy Klezmer Hois for a dinner. Gypsy music on the night we were there. Food was good.

We went to Wierzynek on our second night. Beautiful atmosphere....food medium.

We stayed two nights, but three would have been better.

This hotel was absolutely excellent in every respect. Great service, lovely food (international), comfortable room, brilliant location, family friendly and good value for its 5 stars.

It is a 5 Star hotel typical of the chain which is purpose built with some lovely features such as the glass roofed central Atrium with its open plan restaurant and bar and the well appointed rooms. Amenities are exactly as described on the hotel website and I doubt you will be disappointed.

Location is pretty much 10 mins to all city centre attractions and 1 min from the castle. Overlooks the river at one of the most picturesque points of the Wisla. Front desk were spot on with recommendations for dining in the city with plentiful guides for you to take away, maps with best routes highlighted for you by the staff and bookings for evening meals arranged from the desk to ensure availability making for a stress free stay. Taking advantage of their local knowledge ensured three fantastic evening meals at different restaurants, all within walking distance, all in the top food guides, all at "polish" rather than "tourist" prices and all with a table waiting for us after a short walk...

The Maid service is the reason for the 4/5 for service as the Tea Bags were sometimes not replenished and glasses and tea cups not replaced/cleaned. It may sound a bit petty but remember we are looking for the 5 Star experience here!

Otherwise this hotel was pretty much impossible to fault and I would certainly be staright back there if returning to Krakow.

First of all the hotel is new so everything is spotless. The rooms are large. In comparisson to London or Paris the rooms are double the size and half the price. The bed was very comfortable. I wish i could bring it home. The batrooms are clean and equiped with hairdryers, modern showers, and all esential ammenities.

The location perfect. Just 5 a minute walk takes you to Wawel Castle and 20 minutes away from the main square.

The hotel has great high speed internet access. I was able to log-in flawlessly using my notebook and had a perfect conection in the common areas of the hotel.

We did not try the restaurant or bar. This was because ther eare so many to chose from near the hotel and around the main square.

I will definately stay here next time I visit Krakow.

My partner and I have have just returned from a 5 day stay at the Sheraton Krakow Hotel and enjoyed every minute of it! We arranged for one of the hotel taxis to pick us up from the airport and the guy was duly waiting for us when we arrived. They charge 80 ZL which is about £16 but it was worth it - a lovely trip in a gorgeous Mercedes! The hotel is only a 20 minute drive away. When we arrived we checked in straight away and our room was on the second floor. The room was HUGE, nice king bed and a lovely view of the river outside. The bathroom was clean and spacious as was the main bedroom. Yes, you only get one pair of slippers and one bathrobe but so what!?! Everything was perfect, our towels were changed every single day and the beds made every day. Staff were very friendly and polite and the hotel is situated in a fantastic location - only about 10 minutes walk to the city centre where there are lots of lovely restaurants and bars. We recommend The Sphinx restaurant - nice, cheap food with waiting staff who are great! There is free internet in the lobby although I think you have to pay for it in the rooms. There is a pool and gym which looked good but which we never used - we were always out and about sightseeing! We did the tour of Auschwitz through the hotel which was only 100 ZL, about £20ish - was a great day and we had everything included i.e. transport and English speaking guide. We also did the Salt Mines tour through the hotel, this was about 125 ZL but was also worth the money. I have no problems to report with this hotel and would definitely visit again! One more point to note is that yes, breakfast in the hotel is expensive, the buffet is 85 ZL which is about £16 each so we didn't eat there! We did try the A La Carte breaksfast which again wasn't cheap and wasn't that great - we had cereal, toast, tea and orange juice it cost just over £10 - we ate out most of the time as we were based on room only but this didn't bother us, like i said, there were loads of places to eat. This is a nice quiet hotel, no concerts and no noise outside - a lady plays the piano on an evening in the dining area but is done by about 10pm. We had no trouble sleeping at night, it was just sooo quiet! If you need any more information please just let me know and I'd be happy to help!

Sheraton is ideally positioned beside the river and Wawel castle the top tourist attraction. Everything else is easily walkable or use the comprehensive tram and bus service. Single, day or week tickets available , all very inexpensive. Typically of Sheraton the hotel is 5 star . Breakfast is excellent with a huge selection of fine produce. Rooms spacious and comfortable with fabulous beds and goose pillows. We didn't have a view of the castle from our room. Perhaps you can request this but we walked past it so often it made no difference.Staff were helpful, if not the cheeriest group. Maybe it's a Poliish thing.Free internet access in lobby. Lots of interesting things to do . The castle is spectacular with beautiful gardens . Boat trips on the river are cheap. Restaurants very good value with generous portions. We enjoyed day trips to Chestachova and moving day at Auschwitz a must see lest we forget. Also we enjoyed visits to John Paul 11 centre and his rooms in Krakow. An organ and vocal recital in St Giles' church was outstanding. English mass is available there on Sunday at 10.30 am. Although there are around a hundred churches to choose from.Tremendously well attended by all ages.
One thing I hated was that restaurants and hotels still allow smoking . The non smoking sections make no difference as they are right beside smokers. A shell shock after being blessedly smoke free in U.K. for so long. That said I cannot recommend The Sheraton and Krakow too highly. Friends visited in February and October and were chilled to the bone. We enjoyed a week of sunny, hot weather with temperatures between 26 and 30 degrees with the occasional thunderstorm and rain mostly during the night.

All of the attractive in-house brochures that list free internet in the room and suites (the first listed amenity) are now all "out of date" --- per the front desk this amenity was recently replaced with shockingly high prices for in-room internet access.

When we questioned why all of the publicity materials highlighting free internet access were still being placed in all of the rooms, we were told that we were to have been informed during check-in.

The deluxe room assigned to this gold SPG couple was hardly special in any way. A single pair of slippers, a single bathrobe etc. indicated that current management is engaged in some very questionable profit-making methodologies.

Forewarned is forearmed.

We choose the Sheraton Krakow due the review at TripAdvisor and we are very happy. When we arrived we talked in the reception about some problems we had at the Sheraton Warsow and they proposed us a Club Room with a small difference in price but better and with free internet, breakfast included, Club area open with small sandwichs, drinks, cakes etc.
Was a good suggestion and much better than choose the cheapest in the internet. The hotel is beautifull, well located at the Wistula shore and we can walk to the city center. We tried the restaurant, was 4pm ,and we were very lucky and my wife says had been the best meal in Poland. The breakfast very good as we were expecting also the services we asked at the reception were solved very efficiently. Conclusion is a Sheraton that lead us to choose a Sheraton again in spite the high prices.
