“Good budget hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014

We have just returned from a four night stay at Aparthotel Leone. When we arrived in the taxi we were rather surprised at its position down a very tatty road but once inside were pleasantly surprised. Our room was enormous, it was very clean and the staff were very friendly. There is obviously a great deal of work being done at the moment and a downside was being woken by the builders drilling at 7am each morning. We were on the third floor and there is no lift so for older visitors this could be a problem.

Clean rooms, great service and really helpful and friendly staff. I loved the old building of hotel, room has enough space for two, though bathroom is really tiny. Beds are very comfy. Booked two tours (Aushvitz-Birkenau and Salt Mine) at reception. Great place to stay, good value for reasonable price!

This hotel is on a side road that to be honest had me worried at first. It is recently renovated and it looks like a couple of the neighbouring buildings are still a work-in-progress. It looks a bit grim but the hotel itself is fine and it's lovely inside!

The location is great, the aide road is just off a main road that leads to the old town and the jewish quarter is only a short walk as well.

The staff were friendly, helpful and reception is open 24 hours unlike some other hotels we looked at. They were more than happy to give us information on trips, recommend hotels and lend us an umbrella when it was raining. They offer trips to Auschwitz and/or the salt mines straight from the hotel which was handy. We did both in one day and we had the option of returning to the hotel or Market Square for the break between the two trips.

Breakfast is continental buffet and a hot option that varies each day. We had cheese and ham toasty, scrambled egg and bacon and fried egg on the days we stayed.

There is no safe in the room although there is a safety deposit box in reception. Wifi is free in your room and although it was painfully slow we were told that they were due to have another box installed to improve it in the near future.

The room was clean and tidy, beds were comfortable although it was 2 singles together rather than a double but this seems standard in European hotels from what I've seen. The bathroom was nice and it was the best shower I've ever had in a hotel and was as good or better than my shower at home! There is a hair dryer but it is mounted on the bathroom wall so perhaps easier to take your own.

The railway line is nearby but it didn't disturb us, perhaps if you are a light sleeper with the window open it could cause irritation.

There are security cameras in the hallways which gives peace of mind. No elevator but the highest level is the third floor which was only a problem after we did 6k of walking tours one of the days! The stairs have original features though so at least it's pretty on the way up!

As we checked out the hotel manager came to say goodbye and asked us if we had any advice or recommendations for improvement which shows they care about their customers!

Overall a really pleasant stay and for the cost it was great value and I definitely wouldn't change hotels if I were to book the trip again.

Four of us travelled to Krakow in November of last year for a mini break!

This hotel is a hidden gem!!! The rooms are fantastic! The staff are very very helpful from checking in to arranging transport and excursions!

The rooms are so clean and comfortable and the style of the hotel is fantastic!!

The breakfast in this hotel is also fantastic!!! Great selection of foods and tea and coffee! The hotel is perfectly situated for going exploring around Krakow! A five minute walk takes you to the centre of everything! We will be back to stay in this hotel!

Great location - 10 mins walk from main square in the old town and less than 10 mins walk to the heart of the Jewish district. Rooms very clean and well equipped. Bed pillows super comfy!!

My husband and I stayed in Room 8 on the ground floor on the left and had a kitchen, lounge room, shower room and bedroom. Our friends stayed in room 4 on the right of reception. Their room was slightly smaller with just the bedroom and shower room but again the room was clean and comfortable.

A few other reviewers have mentioned that the wi-Fi wasn't working and yeah, in our room the wi-Fi didnt have a particularly strong signal and was intermittent but we were quite far from the reception area where I expect the router was. This was not really an issue as I was on holiday and a wi-Fi connection for me is not a top priority!! I was there to experience the city not check my email and update FB!! (Room 4 had a better signal tho as they were next to reception, if that makes a difference to anyone picking a room).

Staff very friendly and courteous. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on this.

Overall value for money was amazing - £30 per night for 3 nights in Feb 2014. We would all definitely stay here again and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Dear VikkiVanBoom,

It was so kind of you to write a lot of good things about our rooms and hotel staff.
All travellers will be happy for such a detailed feedback. We really appreciate it.

We are very sorry for the wi-fi issues. We do have to ways to connect internet: cable for businessmen who want to work on their laptops or wifi system for other appliances.
Despite that thick wall inside this old building cause some inconvenience to our guest.
We are very sorry for that inconvenience.
(ps.: We are having another wifi modem by the end of February.)

Two of us stayed there for 3 nights in February. The room was lovely, clean, spacious and warm with very comfortable beds. The staff were always very courteous, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was typical continental fayre with plenty to eat and a hot item every day. The location is only 10 minutes walk from the main square and there is a tram stop at the end of the street, we never used the trams as everywhere we wnated to go with Krakow was within easy walking distance. Supermarekets, alocohol and tobabcco shops are all within 5 mins walk. The only niggle is that there were no English TV channels. The lack of a lift was not a problem for us as we were on the first floor in room 107 where we had excellent wifi reception. We would definitely stay there again.

Don't be put off by the street, this hotel is a little gem! Spotless, comfortable and cosy. Stayed in room 307 which was like a small apartment! Only drawback, no lift. Good continental breakfast, ten minutes walk to main square. Excellent helpful staff. Would definitely stay at Leone Aparthotel on next visit to Krakow.

Room Tip: Room 307 third floor quiet and spacious
