The hotel is just outside the old city, only an 11 minute walk to the main square. The staff were great and let us check in early, as we arrived in the morning. They also had tickets available for a classic music concert in a church, and arranged a tour to the salt mine (tour leader prefers to be paid in cash rather than credit). Breakfast was outstanding, we will stay here again if we return to Krakow.

Hotel Amber is a lovely little hotel that is one block outside of the city center. Easy walking distance from transportation and major sights. The staff is also super helpful in helping you arrange day trips or tickets to events. Would definitely recommend it and would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Unlike many Krakow hotels, there are no clubs near to this hotel. It is a very quiet neighborhood.

I rate this recently and beautifully renovated hotel as one of the best I have ever stayed in. 10 minutes’ walk to the main market square (Rynek Glowny). Rooms are decorated and equipped to a high standard. Breakfast includes choices of cereals, fruits and hot and cold foods and cakes. Staff (reception, dining and domestic) are extremely helpful, respond to all requests, and able to arrange visits to Auschwitz (135 PLN) and the Wieliczka Salt Mines (140 PLN), paid to the tour guides at the start of the trip which worked smoothly. Ask for the excellent Krakow in Your Pocket guide from reception which is a monthly guide to the sites, events etc. The Krakow tram network is confusing so ask reception to look up a route for you on the web or do it yourself. Eventually I was told about the journey planner website krakow.jakdojade.pl (which works) or the jakdojade app for smartphones. Getting there from the bus or rail station by foot, you can make your way to the old town centre signed Stare Miasto and a couple of side streets in 10 – 15 minutes, into Rynek Glowny square then along the Szewska, cross the road onto Karmelicka then turn right onto Garbaska and its half way down on the right. Doors open automatically via the sensor. My only two criticisms are the limited number of English speaking TV channels and no minibar fridge. Try it. You will love it.

Cannot fault Hotel Amber Design at all. My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it! The hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the main square, and that's if you take a slow stroll as we did each day. The location is perfect and on a quieter road, so sleep being disturbed is never an issue. We slept well every night on the incredibly comfortable and soft beds. One thing I have to emphasize is just how spotlessly clean the whole hotel is! I have stayed in many hotels, but this one is definitely high up in the rankings of cleanliness. As well as this, the facilities were great - there's loads of seating areas throughout the hotel, including a lovely garden out back which was a nice place to sit. We never used the gym facilities so unfortunately cannot comment on them, but they did look great. The hotel also has two 'luggage rooms' which were kept locked and only the receptionist had access, so that was really helpful for us to store our luggage after checkout before we flew home.
I had read several reviews slating the breakfast so I wasn't expecting much, but I honestly thought everything I tried was delicious. It's continental but with a small selection of hot food including scrambled eggs. There was a LOT of choice and it was constantly being kept topped up by the staff.
We had a great stay at Hotel Amber Design, the staff were incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The free WiFi was strong and worked in every area of the hotel, the food was great, everything was spotless and I would definitely recommend a stay here. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back again when we return to Krakow in the future! :)

Room Tip: A few rooms at the front have a balcony!

If you want to get a good night's sleep, stay here; the beds are incredibly soft. The service is also excellent. The concierge was very kind and helpful, and there were many nice, free, extra amenities that surprised us: like a small bottle of local cherry brandy and bottles of mineral water in our room. The wifi was excellent. There is also a sauna and two lounge areas in the hotel. The lounge areas were great for when I needed a quiet place to make a quick phone call.

The hotel is located just off of the Old Town Square (about a 5-minute walk), and is in a very convenient location. It is located on a small side street just outside the Old Town area. We were two women traveling together, and we felt fine walking down the street at 11pm. If you are a woman traveling alone, I would recommend not staying out too late since the street is deserted at night or rather walking with someone else.

I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are beautiful, and the service is top-notch. The concierges were always available and gave great advice and directions. There was a little garden out back that we meant to check out, but we ended up being too busy touring Krakow.

Room Tip: Top floor (room numbers in the 300s)

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Amber Design is a new quality enlightening the walls of the historical tenement house, located in a quiet street just 5 minutes away from the Main Square. As part of the Amber Boutique Hotels complex, it will enchant you with its art deco and Art Nouveau ornaments.Being a brand new facility, commissioned months ago, on the structure of an interestingly and richly decorated façade of a tenement house, it draws attention from passer-bys and invites to enter the reception desk. The historical details harmoniously blend with the other elements of its equipment. Original tile stoves form a cosy way of heating for the interior and the historic mosaic add even more charm to the thoroughly renovated wooden staircase. The images with motives taken from the Art Nouveau Krakow painter, St. Wyspiański, bring more stylish decorations to the rooms. Traditional Polish welcome drink, in-room tea and coffee set replenished every day, complimentary use of sauna & mini gym are just a few of the special touches offered to guests for a special stay in the city. ... more   less
