Very nice homely hostel. Hard to find in the beginning but really loved the atmosphere of the hostel. Very clean toilets with laundry facilities also. Staff were helpful.

I stayed at the Travellers Inn for 4 nights in August 2011 and opted to stay in one of their private rooms as opposed to their second location which is a traditional hostel with dormitories. When I made my booking I was promptly forwarded a set of directions by them and a fantastic map which made it very clear how to get to the location once alighting from the bus/train. Communication up to arrival was great and they e-mailed me beforehand to check what time I would be arriving to ensure somebody would be there to meet me. After getting off the bus from the airport I followed the map and was at the property within about 20 minutes, it would have been much quicker had I opted to take the tram but I really enjoyed the walk and it gave me my first real glimpse of beautiful Krakow.

I was greeted warmly when I got there and was shown to my room which was very clean and nicely decorated. The room had basic furniture: two single beds, table, chest of draws, coat stand, desk lamp and two lamps mounted on the wall, no more or no less than was necessary really. There were two computers available for use at any time in the main living areas as well as free Wi-Fi for connecting laptops/phones etc. This was great as it meant I could check my e-mails, facebook etc without having to incur any crazy phone charges. On arrival I was also given a little booklet entitled ‘Krakow Kit’ which the hostel had created which was full of helpful info on the best places to eat, the cheapest ways of seeing the main sites (Salt Mines, Auschwitz etc) and other invaluable info, so that was a fantastic little bonus.

The property had three bathrooms available: one with a shower, toilet, basin and washing machine, another with a shower and basin and another with a toilet and basin. In the larger there was also a hairdryer which didn’t actually seem to work so please remember to bring a small travel hairdryer if you need to! Luckily the weather was beautiful during my stay so my hair was bone dry after around 20 minutes of walking around in the sunshine. These rooms were cleaned daily and there was a steady supply of clean towels available at all times which was great.

The main living/kitchen area was a nice space with a lot of character, it had been decorated with funky posters and although none of the furniture seemed to match it just worked very well, and gave it a comfortable homely feel. 24 hour breakfast was available and the choice was very decent: Tea, Coffee, Milk, Bread, Cereals, Vegetables, Cheese, Meat, Jams, Nutella etc. And of course you could put anything into the fridge that you had bought yourself and wanted to keep chilled. In the main living area there was also a CD player available and a large selection of music to choose from. And there was also a little outside terrace available with a table and a couple of chairs for those who wished to smoke.

Security was great as I was given a set of 3 keys: one for the building that the property was in, one to get into the property itself and one to get into my own room, this meant there was no chance of strangers just wandering in.

If I was returning to Krakow I would not hesitate to stay here again, the staff were great, the accommodation was clean, the breakfast was good and the location was brilliant (5 minutes from the Main Square & Wawel Hill). The price was also very good, I ended up paying the equivalent of around £95 for 4 nights stay, 2 huge thumbs up for the Travellers Inn! :)

Travellers Inn hostel krakow: a review

This place is a more relaxed hostel, expect heavy drinking, loud nights and a good time. Pretty good location as well.

The reception is 24h and you must be buzzed into the hostel when you want to enter. No locks on room doors, but huge lockers which make up for it. The main door is soundproofed and the road is quiet (cul-de-sac).

Facilities are good, free laundry (with a dryer), two showers and two toilets which have paper towels (nice to have these when hands are wet). Two computers available, wifi, huge bean bags, a sofa, hi fi, board games to name just some things. Oh and free breakfast in the mornings! (plus dinner on a Thursday).

Cleanliness is ok, could do with washing the floors a bit and fixing one of the showers, plus on my last morning the water was out (entire street) but the hostel weren't expecting it for another four hours...

The dorms were fine, large and with wooden beds. Little creaky. However, they have not yet changed the doors in the building from residential ones, ie one dorm has two glass window doors that lead to the common area off it. They can't be opened but spill sound through them. Makes it very loud for people inside, similar, though less concerning fact for the other dorms.

Almost everything was good here, except the failure to hostelise the residence by changing tue soundproofing of doors, for that reason it is 4/5.

We stayed at the Hostel 3 Nights in an 8bed dorm.
At first we wanted to book a double room which wasn't available but in the end it turned out the 8bed dorm was a good choice and we payed 45PLN per person and Night (about 11 €)
To the railway station it was a 10-15 minute walk, to the city centre (Wawel, Rynek Glowny) 8-10 minutes, so the hostel can be considered as pretty conveniently situated.

The kitchen was equipped with everything you needed.
The towels for showering are free and a hairdryer can be found in the bathroom.
The wooden bunk beds were comfortable to sleep on (linen included in price for the night) and under it were lockers, spacious enough to fit both our backpacks in ONE of them.

Breakfast was rather basic with white bread and several jams, but if you prefer to eat something hearty better bring some own stuff.
Staff was really friendly and there's a good chance to meet new friends there.
We would recommend this hostel to everyone and will sure be returning soon.

We had a wonderful time in Krakow, it's a magical place and the Traveller's Inn was the perfect place for us to explore Krakow from. It doesn't feel like a hostel, but more like a friends apartment or house, it's in a old building and really feels authentically Krakow. For most of the time we had to place totally to ourselves, it didn't feel overcrowded. The kitchen and sitting room was really nice and the all day free breakfast, coffee etc is great. My only suggestions would be to get some new cushions and bedding, but we would go back in a heartbeat. The place is a bit older and more homy.
