Ostoya Palace Hotel

Reviewed 11 October 2011

This is the second time I have stayed at the Ostoya Palace in Krakow, the first being with my Mother and sister 3 years ago, this time with my husband for 5 days and again I wasn't disappointed. From the moment you enter this beautiful hotel you are met with friendly, professional staff who are helpful with any request. The rooms are elegant and (gladly for me) have character instead of being modern with absolutely no personality. They are very clean and are cleaned throughout your stay. I have read other reviews ref 'hard beds and hotel too quiet' and I agree the beds are firm, but I slept very well and comfortably every night and the quiet and calmness of the hotel is perfect after a day sightseeing and an evening of drinks and fabulous polish food. The restaurant downstairs is small but lovely and fabulously decorated. The Ostoya Palace is in the perfect location, just 10 minutes walk from the main square. I would not consider staying anywhere other than the Ostoya Palace if I were visiting Krakow. I feel so comfortable and so at home here, thanks to the lovely staff and comfortable surroundings. The staff made it such a great stay for us as it was my 37th birthday and my wedding anniversary whilst we were there. Thank you so much to all the staff who we met. A perfect week!

On arrival we were made most welcome and given a welcome drink in the bar beneath the hotel. We had a room on the second floor which was spotlessly clean and well equipped with a safe (no extra charge), tea and coffee making facilities (no milk) though we were told if we wanted some we just had to ask..Two complimentary bottles of water were in the room for us which was most welcome when we arrived.
The hotel is only about a 5 minute walk from the Main Square and 30 minutes from the railway station. Convenient for all.

Room Tip: Second floor would be quieter.

If you find yourself in Krakov, Poland, I reccommend staying in The Ostoya Palace Hotel.
We found it very peaceful. The restaurant was nice and reasonably priced.
The staff were friendly, courteous and always very helpful. Our rooms were immaculate
and every facility available. And we were just 5 minutes away from the main square and
all tourist attractions. We would book this hotel again!!!

Friendly staff, facilities fine, varied choice for breakfast & plenty of it, very convenient for city centre, pleasant & quiet room on first floor - especially bathroom. Hotel is handily close to a basement pub/restaurant, although food there was ordinary. We found the bed very hard but staff did what they could to alleviate. We found the coffee undrinkable but there were alternatives.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road - motor & tram traffic may disturb.
